Snuzzled: Making it easier to check peoples' parses means more people are going to do it. Which means more toxicity in lower level content where parses aren't regularly being checked currently. It's Gearscore all over again.
alabamajamma: Parses can be, and are frequently gamified. This means people are playing to inflate their parse, through actions that would normally be unnecessary or potentially harmful to the overall strategy/game plan. An example of this, using important CDs on trivial adds or trash mobs rather than using the CDs when you are assigned, or to do priority ST damage. Max hates this, when limit are progging on bosses, and someone suddenly changes their CD timing after like 80 pulls without being asked to, or communicating the change, Max will hit them with the "don't do that".
What does this mean for casual players with an addon like this? Players might feel incentivized to prioritize their parse over following the strategy/game plan. They may act more selfishly. As a result, people are now playing the game in a counterproductive way, making bosses harder to kill. Everyone's most important and primary goal in a raid should be downing the boss. That might change with this addon. And it even opens up the possibility of people griefing other players. You might get priest-gripped into a one shot and die. Now you have a gray parse lowering your overall parse % (if the addon doesn't care about average parses disregard).
Overall if this addon picks up traction and is used the way I'm thinking it will be - some star players who sacrifice their damage to do important mechanics to kill bosses will be hurt. Those are the kinds of players you want when building a raid comp.
FoliumSakura: haven't yet run into a problem, but its probs one of those things that progressively gets worse kinda like how need roll -> sell has started to pick up
Guitarman5705: I just honestly think trying to do stuff like this to this video game should result in a permaban by blizz
OneSultaiGoblin: problem is parses don't really mean much, sure it tells you how you did on boss dam but did you do mechanics or were you just hitting the boss causing 10 wipes due to failed mechanics. best example is stix bunkjunker and ric reverb, sure these bosses are easy to get big dam on but also have parts to the fight that if all players are not actively helping with it can lead to a wipe
Thegriff19: This is a reason why new players who are trying to get into the game don't even want to play anymore.
cullenasaro2229: The community is dead set on killing itself in WoW.
aetheron1244: Well, its not an issue if this is happening in ultra high level content because it is pretty obvious that once you are good enough to be there, you are already kinda minmaxing yourself to a high degree.
The problem is that addons like this can make it a common thing in regular peoples content as well. People already have absurd requirements for groups, like to get invited to most pug raids, your ilvl must usually be on the same level or higher of the loot dropped by the raid mode and after week 1/2, you will have a huge problem finding a raid unless you have cleared it yourself. People just want to have easymode and get carried through stuff and this will make it so much worse.
amhowaye1605: Bro, every raid, every guild has that one—or a few—cockroaches. The ones who care about nothing more than their parse. They'll do anything to make it look better, even if it means everyone else has to make compromises. Even if it means more wipes. Even if it means the guild falls apart and people turn on each other. They're just selfish little twat. And now they are getting the spotlight? what? dude? Good luck inviting them.
yer931: this completely ruins alts/casual gaming
peterpain6625: Love how you fade out when it gets interesting at "healer and tank parsing" ;)
Vicar307: I can already hear the healers yell at the raidleader for inviting an extra healer
YumYum820: If Blizzard ever needed an excuse to block all add-ons this would be a real good reason to do it...
athenaebbesen9056: Us casual players are doomed.
Mysterious-Fox-01: the problem with this Add-on is that it not only shows you your Rio stuff, it also shows you where you are lacking in or if you are not good in dps or are good in dps or at the mechanics, but the worst part is that it shows your total DPS in different colors, if you are green you will not be invited because people will only use the gameplay data to get purple DPS people.
This Add-on is a combination of rio and details with more information and stuff, and disabling the settings to hide said data won't help because people simply won't invite you if they can't spy on your data the outrage is completely justified
arshaadc4215: From what I’ve heard this add on is behind a pay wall. So it’s for the real sweats.
hounddog040: The whole GD problem with WOW is everyone forgot how to just have fun.
gummibing8908: Max is right it's being done at a high lvl. But now the middle or lower lvl people will just have to mouseover a player and see they did bad or good and now the middle and lower skill lvl will start to scrutiny which is kinda bad.
DiabolicNick: I see alot of people talking about toxicity. How are you going to face toxicity if you cant even get into groups? If im doing a raid or a key I want to succeed. I dont want to wipe while pugging raids on alts. I want it to be smooth and having a group with people that can perform well (bc lets be real theres not really that many mechanics in undermine) is what is the most beneficial to all of us.
Konrad-z9w: This addon will destroy pug raiding. Grey parsers will not get invited to pugs anymore, like at all. Even if the raid leader doesn't use that addon you can be sure there'll be a couple jerks going "one more grey skiller and I'm leaving" with predictable results. And here's the thing: you only get a parse if you kill the boss. How many rounds of not inviting anyone out of the lowest 24% parses does it take for your
toreole: "sorry buddy, your 630 character cant join the normal raid. only 8/8 heroic and 650 ilvl allowed"
ValkurionFTW: remember gear score...yeah people won't really care.
nathanielknight1838: in high level, it's somewhat needed but people are 100% gonna use it to try and make groups in 5 keys with 90% parsers. And the parses themselves are bs. How do you get into better guilds? Push your parses. How do you do that? ignore everything and tunnel. The vast majority of players do not understand this. Like people gonna be more impressed by someone who killed 3 bosses on mythic in raid except that's about the same difficulty as bandit / MZ on heroic. It just means your raid actually has 20 players.
nathanbrammer8471: Wow just gets worse for people like me, yeah im not a great player, but then im not trying to get into a mythic raiding guild or going for high keys, this just makes the content I aim to do harder to achieve, no surprises i am only doing delves so far this expansion because getting into pugs or even into guilds is becoming harder. This is killing the game for the majority of players who vastly outnumber the elite players. You guys need to remember the bulk of the wow customer base is like me and if you lose us you will effectively kill wow.
MikhailZuev-k1x: On high pug keys you look at parses anyway. If you have 10 random players in queue with same spec, rio, set of timed dungeons and ilvl, you need to make choice somehow.
Also, let's be real: if you have green/blue heroic parses, it's not because you did mechanics. If "mechanics" on heroic lowers your parses by 10-20% that means you don't know mechanics; you cannot predict them and adjust your rotation.
Takeonwilds: Ban it, right now.
Getting 10 Keys is insanely hard already when not playing meta class.
I spend 2 hours straight Yesterday to not getting into a single group.
Now add an elitist filter to that…. Fuck no!
Arkraven51: There are a lot of WoW players that have the maturity of a twelve-year-old. In their hands this addon is a perfect tool for them to feel all-powerful and deny other people a chance at having fun.
