Mortepheus: The one thing private servers have is the social aspect and sense of community that OG WoW had. Retail WoW will never have that same effect again because they designed it out of the game.
karakter222: The main benefit is that they are not limited by the old client, they can add whatever new feature they want e.g. android support, controller support

Airbag888: Let's not be disingenuous here.. Turtle WoW team took the task of modernising a game that's been behind the times at every turn in terms of graphical tech and also engine. I'm amazed they're pulling this off. Can't wait to see the finished product (I may save some bucks by letting my kids play on it)

Btw, people need to realise (and it's in the video) that this is all ALPHA footage.. there is a LOT more to be done so it's only better from here
amelio5720: Blizzard will have already issued cease and assist letters to turtle wow, they will have just pissed on them because they operate in a country that doesn't care about American copywrite laws. That's what ALL the private servers do, Blizz didn't shut down Nostalrius, they just complied with the copywrite claim, out of goodwill...

31Herooo31: If they are making this fully anew in Unreal engine the real power of this is not new graphics and stuff because they are probably a small team, but the fact that they have full control of mechanics, vfx, sfx, ai, they can make completely new talent trees, spells, and change esentials of the game. That is the real potential of this.

It's a future framework if this is successful they can expand on it and even if now you don't like graphics now, with UE it will possible to make it 100 times better in future if they wish too.

YouAreMeWho: Even without the Unreal 5 update Turtle wow beats original wow it had added new raids and dungeons, zones and quest lines, countless new items to fill gaps that were missing in itemization years ago. And just slight adjustments in specs to make some more viable while others more fun without braking the already established balance. And that server has been going for years and at one point we there were 15k queue times when the chinese blizzard servers were shut. Also they are using older architecture of blizzard servers were servers dont stop when there are 50 players in one place.
ruicorreia6373: WoW's models (especially the old ones) lose character when you take away their color and they do not work well with that type of projected ambient light
Taanstafl12: It all looks great until you get to the areas with a lot of sunlight. The lighting is just overpowering and washes out the aesthetic.
