YKMSanada: I'm sorry but this wasn't anywhere as good as any of their old cinematics. No iconic lines, no story telling, no actual cinematic moments. It's just three people flinging their shit around and an ambiguous shot of a zone that I don't even think most people will recognize. Not sold at all.
ggadams639: So like angry black woman, weird troll dancing, and a pulling big chain, and random elf waifu is enough to create hype for a warcraft fan nowadays. Noted
jkenlow1946: Actually the worst cinematic in wow history
tyty8484: The Woke Within.
fraserbain6102: There was nothing in that clip that said "World Of Warcraft" until the logo.
It could have been anything.
OneWayTwoBrazil: > One of the weakest cinematic ever
Asmon: This is cool actually
TheChaosNova: the black disabled paladin with the zoomer fr fr nocap haircut,
please god smite me now.
Napski_: That trailer was hot garbage
almu.9637: This trailer lacks testosterone
BlueEyesWhiteViera: I can't take Faerin Lothar seriously. Every time I see her I just think back to that leaked "diversity score" system that Blizzard came up with a few years ago.
She looks like someone was trying to go for a high score, not create a real character.
3_am___: It feels like some random free to play mobile game tbh
Cyperx3: this looks more like a new d4 trailer than wow
lAmCanad1an: Ya this doesn’t look badass at all lol. They literally showed nothing of value. Putting on armour, pulling a chain, weird dancing and screeching and gurgling…
Dethroner0: Bad trailer, no WoW vibes at all. Felt super off coulda made that gearing up scene way better and the troll scene felt super outta left field.
sd4568: That pala repping the 0.00000000000000001% of the playerbase, yaaas queen.
SubsonicRob: Hit all their diversity requirements with a single character lol
slav999: DEI ahh cinematic bro, no story just visuals
boxtears: Before anyone accuses Faerin detractors of just being haters, keep in mind that in-game she's offered a prosthetic that will make her more effective in combat and she flat-out refuses because she sees being one-armed as part of her identity. Basically perpetuating the bizarre message that most disabled don't want to be enabled.
themore-you-know: I sniff DEI, I disconnect.
Immersion immediately ruined.
osric190: Black
randomtrollguy: Is this star wars acolyte?
KazaiTV: This just reeks of "power of one, power of two, power of MANY!"...
lexsmith1285: why does the dei hire paladin look like she belongs in diablo?
shazmodeus2795: a handicapped black woman is just the person I want leading my medieval close combat army, well done, Blizzard.
JohnMichaelson: Isn't this just the opening ceremony from the Olympics?
IanGerritsen: Blizzard cannot convey emotion that resonates with normal people.
wandameadows5736: Sorry this is not Warcraft.
Blackrew: The cinematic's problem is that it doesn't tell you anything about the story/plot of the expansion. It should've had Xal'atath narrating over these cool zone shots and etc to actually explain the story here
buckhammer5897: I felt like this was more avatar than world of warcraft
Gregaric9106: Blizz cinematics keep getting more and more lame. Get ready for a soft ass expansion full of feelings
pikpik42: it just looks like it's ai generated.
No connection, no relation
you can feel how bored the must have felt while making it
guyfromdubai: That troll dance had "The power of manyyy" vibes
RyanSmith-on1hq: This looks like it was made by an AI that was trained exclusively on recent Disney content.
Kahiyao: I don't think this was a good trailer at all. Sure the animation is cool but it had no cohesion, no flow, just some random montage of different characters doing a single thing. There was no hype to this.
Snuusnuu69: Trailer is HOT CACA, we can all smell the pandering.
Infernal460: Pass.
mattk429: 20 seconds in and they couldn't help but throw in a black one armed lesbian elf... how stunning... how brave...
FellishBeast: Someone pointed this out and now I can’t unsee it, but the way Faerin is pulling her leather straps is complete nonsense. That’s not how those kinds of straps work.
Meatbun: Troll scenes in my head play:
"The power of one.
The power of two.
The power of many-eeeeeeeee."
Xialoh: There was nothing badass here. What? Is this a sponsored video or something.
mynamebashbarti: My heart goes out to MMO fans who can’t let go of their childhood game even though it’s been desecrated infront repeatedly over the years.
alexandrosr5179: Ahahahahahhaha that's not WOW Asmon....this is WO-KE
fredtott4684: If I had a 0.0000001% chance of coming back, it's fucking gone now I'll tell you that.
chahinebourenane6291: Worst cinematic so far. I miss the lich king era cinematic.
Nuggets0330: 90% Na'vi, 10% troll, 0% original thought or creativity
McLovinYoMuffin: Why does xalatath have a man chin?
mcvade7021: Not gonna lie, saw the disabled woman of color and, since I know it's Blizzard just ticking boxes, my mind immediately went to trying to guess orientation/pronouns and I checked out.
TheKlikRock: One dude in the trailer, and all he does is yank his chain. It's kinda funny.
josephmendozajr8993: Avatar and Diablo ?
Yuliviee: that earthen dwarf must be HEAVY AS HELL TO KEEP HIS FEET ON THE GROUND LIKE THAT.
ehotto: In a world with resurrection magic available at your local corner store, why she have 1 arm? Go see a level 10 druid
Kukafrwl: -The world awaits
-You are not prepared
-My son the day you were born.....>You shall be king
-All will burn within the shadows of my wings
-What is worth fighting for?
-was not our destiny/ times change/ we will never be slaves.
mustafaasmreyhan5909: No one can ever convince me this is a wow cinematic. There is almost nothing about freaking WARCRAFT
mixmastermike1021: What is this craze with centering on characters that we know nothing about and are expected to care about them? You show someone donning armor, a dwarf working a forge, and a troll doing some magic. So what? Why should I care about them or what they're doing? This doesn't MEAN anything.
Renrogue2446: The flinging lady, the half blind one armed black lady, something smells fishy, fishier than the trailer.
DonPablo91: What does the trailer have to do with WoW? Also tired of this woke BS
enginelol: Just 1 dude in the trailer and they have him yanking his own chain. What did Blizzard mean by that?
SvenS2: This doesn't even look like Warcraft anymore.... If you said it was Lineage or some other game, I would've believed you
AO_9: All vanilla WoW needed was a hot elf drawing.
amfortas: IS THAT A HECKIN ONE ARMED WOMXN OF COLOR?!?!
neoh7939: Looks exactly like a " XXXX GAME REMADE WITH AI TECHNOLOGY TRAILER (4K EPIC HD)". What were they thinking lol
Rukia541: Literally nothing happened it doesn't even seem WoW to me how is this badass
Sir_Pickle: The power of one!
The power of two!
The power of maaaaaannny!
Thats what the dancing reminded me of...
ProudFatherofTwo: Its far from Bad Ass XD
butcherjsy8: This is giving me Acolyte "The power of many" vibes, count me out!
gemme4486: she don't need no man to put on her armor...i mean real knights couldn't do it themself and needed help but with the power of being a woman of color she does it with one arm.
jasondilts7954: I just noticed something... dancing 'troll' lady isn't a troll. Tusks, yes... but the hands had five fingers. Feet were right, hands were not.
Valerabetmen: Bruh, 4 time strong independent woman with disabilities, dwarf who have more powers then 5/7 heroes, crazy trole woman(?)dance and nerubian. Ok.
miladsamo: i'm crying... what is happening to WoW
kendov288: When Blizzard fumbles a cinematic, you know it's pretty much over. This feels forced and non-sensical, and nothing suggests WoW in this trailer like other people mentioned.
Ironically, if you take the vanilla trailer for an example, it was WAY more diverse as well. Stoic dwarf hunter, badass Night she-elf druid, massive gentle Tauren, ferocious Orc warrior, terrifying Undead warlock, awe inspiring WHITE MALE (gasp) mage, etc. Something EVERYONE could identify with, something exciting and creative! There was very little creativity shown in this trailer.
I seriously thought WoW was turning around in Legion, and I played the crap outta that expac, but the complete fumbling of BFA AND Shadowlands sealed the deal for me.
handsinthefire: I have seen my dog drink water before, but I thought I knew what dogwater looked like...and then I saw this and knew exactly what it looked like.
lichmourne00: Idk why they didnt have Xalatath doing a speech through the entire cinematic.. woulda had so much more soul.
numaruldoi3031: I was half expecting that blue dancing thing to shout "the power of manyyyyy!!!" at any point
camlamb12: Game devs don't know what black people look like lol
zacharyjames4121: That dancing gave me "acolyte" vibes lol
edwardsilver4012: Put a chick in it and make it diverse!
-Someone at Activision/Blizzard .
But for real. Did anyone notice its only one dude in the whole cinematic?
Even the troll was a chick. Reeks like DEI
GuardianTactician: I went back to the original WoW cinematic from classic to compare it to this one. In this cinematic, we have scenes of three distinct characters, a stone dwarf, a disabled human paladin, and a troll shaman or druid. They are "preparing" for something, with the backgrounds hidden because our focus is supposed to be on the characters. There is no narration to set the tone or explain what is happening. We get a few brief landscape shots of new zones (presumably), and a nerubian that might end up being a major villain doing something at an altar to an old god. Oh, then we see Xalatath at the end with a dark background and spinning orbs. I can almost hear her saying "There is no war in Ba Sing Se", or maybe "There is no controversy at Blizzard Entertainment."
The original WoW cinematic has a few brief lines at the beginning to set the stage for the timeframe of the game, for those who cared about the lore in the previous Warcraft RTS games. It showed random characters of each of the major races doing their thing, while showing the world and background around them. Said backgrounds were highly detailed, and at least one shot with the night elf druid running was quite dynamic. Those same characters were brought in again with them in direct combat with each other. It conveyed a sense of scale that there are 8 groups of people here in this world, and they are battling it out for control over Azeroth.
