RobbieIsBored: I personally don't think it's about the game. I think it's about Pirate really always overinflating his experience and expertise and using that to be generally egotistical towards people. So then when he makes a rookie mistake, people expect him to take the same lumps he gives out to other people when they make mistakes. But instead of just doing that and moving on, he refuses to do so, accuses other streamers of organizing hate raids against him when all they did is react to the clip. And then threatens to report them all to twitch in an attempt to get them banned. A guy did the same thing last week and was like "lol, you're right, I roached there, sorry about that." And everybody promptly moved on because it's not a big deal at its core. It's about the ego Pirate has on the day to day, which is why most of the guild not even involved celebrated when he got guild kicked. Even in the game dev community he has been insanely insufferable and egotistical anytime he gets called out for giving incorrect information or getting caught inflating his experience to the level of extreme dishonesty. To the point he has filed false copystrikes against people who uncover some of his more egregious lies. He's just all around not the good person he pretends to be and if you watch him for a decent amount of time you will realize a lot of the good guy thing is an act. He spent enough time around these creators for them to see it firsthand. Personally, there are a few clips out there of him bullying the shit out of guild members that are newbies or who made mistakes in battle, so it's funny as hell to see him make a rookie mistake and then get this butthurt about people calling it out.
AndelsHistory: You have no idea how happy i am to see this normal drama pop off for once instead of some existential doom or politics.
thebirdman6593: For context, been playing WoW for 20 years, been a raid leader for many, many years. The wow playerbase has tons of fantastic people, but man.. it also has the biggest psychos. However, I looked at the original clip and even though Piratesoftware is a great guy, he is in the wrong here. He kept saying he couldn't do anything because he had no mana - he had about 1/4th of his mana pool (and full health), which is plenty to cast a frost nova or cone of cold to slow the mobs for his teammates. He also had cold snap off cooldown which resets all of his frost abilities, which means he could use those spells to help the team, twice. The first thing I looked for was his Evocation CD (which gives him all his mana back), which is on the right vertical action bar, and it had about ~2 min ish left on the CD. Also he had his mana gem and robe of the archmage so he could have popped one of those and helped his team. The tough part is the raid lead did call to run, which he did, and I would assume the other people in the group would have ran to save their characters too if they didn't actively have aggro on the mobs. It is kind of commonplace in HC wow to always prioritize saving your own character because when you die, it's gone forever. Is this all really stupid? Yes. Are the other teammates justified in being angry at him? Yes, kind of. I assume Pirate knows he is kind of in the wrong, but he got backed into a corner and now needs to justify his actions. However, I didn't look into it much because stupid shit like this happens all the time in wow and it's best not to lose sleep over it. Those are my thoughts, cheers oomperville
SeemsLikeSomething: The gameplay part is normal. Happens all the time and nobody really cares about that happening. The problem is, and always will be, the social handling of it. Pirate went ego mode, wouldn’t show any accountability, responsibility, sympathy or empathy, and quadrupled down. That’s the one and only problem. Just being a decent person.
timothyjamesmatheson: Having a big ego makes people die on strange hills.
ursineternii1844: WoW having drama? Who would’ve thought
blaine453: You're missing the point, he assassinated his own character
cattleist: Pirate was literally reporting his own guildmates (other streamers) for targeted harassment when they had some banter about the situation. These are the actions of a man who quintessentially cannot hang.
davidwissman85: Pirate software is being a huge baby.
IM_JUSTREN: oompa is slowly turning into a hobgoblin
AG.Floats: I was a 2003 Tester for WoW back in the day. Started officially back in 2004. I may be in the minority, but that guy annoys the shit out of me. Been apart of the community for literally 20 years and ive never seen or heard of this guy before he started making tiktoks lol.
nathansamson8215: My friends would just clown me for running, never let me live it down, and then probably punk me back somewhere down the line then we’d have beers and forget later most likely
xXFoiXx: Let me explain this to you. He used to work at Blizzard. And was a super hacker for the government. And he is named after a god
So he is literally never wrong. When he is in a room everyone else is wrong. When he is talking to someone he is teaching them regardless of the topic. For everything he has a genius insight.
You can not criticize this man, nay god, ever.
joshduriden519: You're completely missing the point.
People aren't mad that he fucked up, it's that he fucked up and won't admit it. He deflects and doubles down, and while WoW is just a game, a level 60 character represents 2 weeks in grinding alone, that's not including things like gear.
Imagine you had two friends who spent like 2 weeks on some large lego artwork and a guy and three friends were rough housing and they end up smashing the artwork to pieces. Two of the friends go, oh shit, my bad and the people who made are like "Damn this sucks, maybe we should have built it somewhere else."
Pirate is that last guy, and he's like "Yeah you all fucked up, I mean we all made mistakes. But I did the best I could to not try and destroy your work, but really the other guys shouldn't have started rough housing in the first place and it's kind of dumb to build in an area people might be walking around. But, you know I'm not perfect either." He's constantly shits on other players for not being up to a certain standard, he's played WoW for 7 years and has said on multiple occasions what his role is in such a situation. He fucked up and roached out, but he refuses to take accountability for his actions, and that's why people are losing their shit over this.
He's literally the Colleen of WoW Hardcore right now, playing his little Ukulele singing "All along the toxic gossip train...."
cellamuert: From what I've seen, and I've watched allll this juicy drama: 95% of people defending Thor have never played the game, therefore they know nothing about the in-game situation. They also entirely ignore the behavior Thor displayed throughout and afterwards, and every step of the way since.
Admittedly, a lot of people have wanted this to happen to Thor for a while. But, there's a reason for that. A lot of people think his entire on camera personality is fraudulent, and that situations like this are showing his true colors.
Tyler wasnt in the run.
"The Shotcaller" is Thor being completely absurd and memeable. The tank spoke up at a couple points, that's the closest thing to a "Shotcaller" in the group lol.
thx134: Didn't Tyler1 speed-run becoming a legit chess master, purely out of spite?
specter2k: Imagine if in war someone called a retreat and did nothing to cover your teammates in their own retreat and had a smirk on your face while they all got merc'd. Then to just say well a retreat was called so its every person for themselves and he said its their own fault for dying. While an extreme example its what he did, he goaded for a long time how good he was and what the class can do to save people but he shat the bed and did nothing.
missclassy2878: Leeroy Jenkins mentioned
alchapwn: "Dude made the shot call to run so i listened to the shot callers call." *one breathe later "i didnt feel like listening to the shot callers shot to go back in because i dont listen to shot callers"
lilgoop: Everyone unfamiliar with this drama that backs or makes excuses for Pirate Software always frames it as "he was a roach in a game." That's not the point. It was never the point. It was always about the way he acts and the actions he took because of it.
Putting aside the WoW drama for the time being, I'd like to say Jason had this coming for a long time. This guy is an insufferable narcissist and egotist. He always speaks as if he has authority over any given topic. He always brings up, unsolicited, how he's worked in blizzard for 7 years and that he was a security specialist for 20. He does this to give creedance to his percieved authority. In reality, he got the job because of his father. He had the lowest possible position in Blizzard. His super secret security job for the government is completely unverifiable.
Jason is a corporate shill that wants to uphold anticonsumer game practices because if they aren't allowed to f*** you over then the gaming market will "crash." When people tried to open a dialogue with him, while being extremely nice to Jason, he completely shut them down and called them "disgusting." I think that really just highlights his fragile ego.
He also thinks he's a coding God. However, whenever people with knowledge and experience go over his code they always point out how bad, unorganized, and amaturish it is. It's part of the reason he takes so long to work on a crappy pixel game, the other reason is that he barely works on the game in the first place. He spends like less than 1% of his time working on the game and spends the majority of it streaming video games.
Jason is also a big fan of censoring people critical of him. Not only did he threaten to get streamers banned for clowning on him but he has also had videos removed by smaller creators. He's so soft you cant even comment "mana gem" in his chat.
Figtree, also tries to hide the fact that he was a degenerate furry that sold porn skins on Second Life. He actually got up to a lot of shenanigans on that game; one of them being meeting an underage girl irl that he has refused to talk about.
There's a lot more about him you can find on KF but my overall point is this guy is a fraud and he sucks and I find it super funny his downfall is because of World of Warcraft.
yoslo6832: So the issue is PirateSoftware has said “I’m a veteran and this what I do to save the day and it makes it really fun” and then when he needed to save the day he ran. Then when confronted on why he running he lied about his mana (used to cast spells). Then continued to double triple quadruple down on him being right and everyone else being wrong. And after so many days of intense drama Pirate was kicked. He threatened to ban people with his influence. And it just shows his ego in the fact that he won’t just say “I also contributed to the bad fight”
dreamingdragon5245: 'Can I speak?'
"Nah. Not doing that shit with him"
Literally refusing to even hear other people out. This isnt about a game.
zGamerGodz: Damn. I dont think ive ever seen a video like this. Confidently giving an opinion while not understanding anything at all about a situation and siding with the unreasonable side just cause you have atleast heard of the person on that side of the arguement.
This has nothing to do with a person making a mistake in a game. Its about a holier than thou person who presents himself as better than everyone who has spent the last 2 months criticising other people for mistakes even going as far as saying, and this is a direct quote: ''it made him physically unwell'' to see other people misplay the same role he plays and going on tirades about how he would never make mistakes like that... And then making those exact same mistakes and when getting called out for it lashing out and lying and claiming nothing could be done. And his entire disgusting attitude of ''i know better i can never be wrong''. Then you can add to it that childish shit of first talking over a person and then when the person doesnt stop talking to give room to your interruption you start complaining about them talking over you like fucks sake get real. That shit was so gross.
wilzzuu: The hardcore WoW community
sparrkii: Watching the separate circles of content that I watch become Venn Diagrams is wild. All over a Warcraft dungeon.
davidhess3484: I love that other dudes get that one mustache hair that does its own thing.
