THESE ARE YOUR DEVS!!! swtor

hanesate: This dev team does excel at some things…such as making decisions that annoy players and reduce revenue

MaccabeeSolarLLC: Ill always have KOTOR 2 and it's incredible story telling and gameplay and no one can take that away from me.

lycandrengr5451: Honestly, a community manager or even a manager in general should always be open to conversation. Not only to grasp an understanding of what’s going on but to help address issues. It’s what managers do. Managers “manage” and fix issues by addressing and listening to others and their concerns. A happy employee is a productive employee, a happy consumer/player/customer is a content one. If you don’t listen to your people you’re going to fail and do more damage rather than fix or improve. Ubisoft is a good example of this, they have NOT been listening to their player base, they even got their cultural history wrong, even despite the criticism.

Jackie should not be engaging/getting mad/attacking other players regardless. She should just address it from a neutral perspective being “I’m sorry you feel that way, your concern has been noted and it will be addressed to the team” instead of: “you’re wrong”. As for Musco, I think he has potential, but there are bad weeds amongst some of the devs that hinder the progress and improvement of the game. Honestly, I don’t know what they do have the time and it’s upsetting. They NEED to take risks, they need to think OUTSIDE the box, and they need to listen to constructive criticism to grow and understand what needs to be done.

swcentral: Great video. Sometimes difficult conversations have to take place. This could be one of them, but even still the context is meaningful. Birdface summed it up quite well.

"Did you actually want this community manager job, or did you just think it would be a vehicle to boost your social media following?!" - Birdface

Vextalin9404: Well said. These devs are so in their feelings all the time about the activism im actually shocked they haven't put pronoun titles in the game yet. Would be great if a company that was worth a shit bought the game and actually developed it the way it should be instead of what we are getting now.

khanmandalor7227: I left the game. It’s dead. This is my favorite era of Star Wars and they have killed it by not listening to the fans that pay. I unsubscribed because that may be the only way they will listen and do better. But, probably not! Star Wars as a hole has fallen. It’s up to the fans to make SW magical again

grego7596: I have always stated this, and will keep doing it; there's no such thing as negative feedback or criticism, it's just feedback, good or bad. Period. If folks fail to understand it, maybe they're not suitable for the job.

Drew2You: As much as I appreciate your desire to "get on your soapbox," as you say, maybe it's better to stay off of it, my friend.

No one really believes that a few social media posts (or lack of) is keeping the Devs from their job.

Should the Community Manager be doing more on topic SWTOR posts? Yes. But social media or their world views isn't keeping them from their jobs. That's a stretch...

browniez500: I remember the good old days when gaming was about big beards, killer stories, and gameplay. Sadly those days feels like they are long behind us and this is what we are left with. But I guess it does not really matter since my favorite part of the game is the original class / planet stories that came out in 2011.

Rune_TTV: As bad as it is, I don't want this game to shut down at least not until there is something to take its place. Give us a "back to roots" update and get rid of level sync on planets in the very least and a lot of people would come back.

laszloszombati7966: constructive criticism: loose the beard and dont bring politics in this shit.

adammaginnis719: I recently subbed yesterday to SWTOR and mainly playing it for the story and some of the story expansions but I don’t know if I’ll keep subbing to it whenever I finish all the story content but so far I’m enjoying it.

regishel: I support Trans Rights and represention in games, but it has to be with respect for the gamers too, the Harry Potter game did trans representation right

tyzinthehutt: so 2 to 3 social media posts is your proof? my how far you have fallen. time to click "dont recommend this channel anyone"

Thelifeisgreat12pm: totally agree boomy. They need to do there jobs. not activism.

jediwatts1539: So it's women's fault that bioware and EA aka "totally not four scams in a trench coat disguised as a game company" sold the game to another developer studio when it was already in its death spin and they are now having to do damage control until they can actually get it going again.....that's totally not a loser thing to believe in, I wish you people would just stop playing games if you hate them so much, better yet just drop star wars if it's so "woke" and leave it to fans who actually care about it instead of using it as a political football

lucaspaganini6814: Swtor devs are all trash

doomandew: So since people who like to make videos, are afraid to actually do a lengthy video and put themselves in the position of the devs (because they actually realize how difficult of a job the devs have), and honestly I'm tired of seeing players not willing to defend positions, I'm making this lengthy post where I'm going to call it. If I was in charge of the game for a year.

If I was made the decision maker of SWTOR for a year.

Part I: Before being hired

-- I would gauge the interest of perspective writers outside of the game

-- I would interview ALL of the developers.

Once I was done with that, I would reach out to different sources like Boomy, and request that they conduct a series of polls to gauge what content the players want.

With that data I would formulate a gameplan, that would consist of firing devs who do not align with the vision that I want to produce.

Part II: The "First" Day (assumption that the dots align this is happening effective Q1)

-- I would announce with an "executive letter" stating who I am, the passion that I have for the game and that over the last x amount of time, I have been working with the developers, as well as members of the community past and present to understand where the player base sits with the type of content that they want.

-- From there I would mention how changes are coming to the game, both behind the scenes and with the transparency element where it's capable of changing, stressing that there are aspects that even though we at SWTOR may want to share that we can't.

-- I would announce that the quarterly letters would continue as opposed to a full road map, with a review at the end of the year.

-- The quarterly letters would cover Jan-March, Apr-June, July-Sept, Oct-December. With the release dates of these quarterly letters in Feb (Q1), May (Q2), Aug (Q3), Nov (Q4) with Dec having a review of the entire year.

-- By releasing these quarter letters in the middle month of the quarter it would prep you for the next update (i.e. Q1 letter would cover March update).

-- I would state at least for the next year there would continue to be 4 updates and I would rehash how updates work (i.e. x.x has story, x.x.x are smaller patches, x.x(letter)/x.x.x(letter) are bug fixes)

-- I would announce an update to Terms of Service, and state how the players need to follow terms of service by posting relevant questions/concerns in the relevant section.

-- I would state how starting in Q2 developers would be involved in hosting bi-weekly livestreams to take questions/provide answers to the player base.

I'll end it here as there's a lot more that I could add (such as I believe this game should focus on the RPG element that's why players come to swtor, not the MMO aspect).

Darthpicklelord: Activision should stay out of all games. This explains why the story has been so forgettable. Which is one of the biggest complaints people have with "modern" gaming--the writing sucks and lacking imagination. Keep it up Boomy!

doomandew: Look, I generally agree with how you presented this video. With that being said, I really don't understand why the player base gets all offended that another player says to them "Hey get on the PTS and stuff may not be broken". Like it's funny, you'll have commentors state "glad I haven't been subscribed in 9 years", and then they'll be the first ones to complain that stuff is broken, yet argue that they spent hours on the PTS. Yet, in order to be on the PTS you have to be a subscriber, yet they haven't subbed in 9 years. (and obviously I'm just throwing a number out there)

Also, I still don't understand why the player base needs to hear "Hey all we have no idea when we can do story, because of the voice-actors strike", is it an ego thing?? The player base rightly flipped out with the KOTOR scenes, and they've flipped out when there's been changes to voice actors.

With that said, content creators like yourself are just as guilty as what the devs do. Here's a perfect, you've done at least a half dozen videos on "players" sending you emails about all the times they've been blocked on the forums, or from what you've seen these "posts" being deleted. However, you've only shown this evidence once with an altered photo that the person admitted to altering in your comment section. However, me and another player send you multiple photos of the harassment they've been receiving and your response to me in your comment section is show me more evidence. So, you claim you're transparent let's see all of these screenshots people have for "no reason" being blocked and then go line by line through the terms of service and show that they did not violate ToS. I get why you cater to the players, because they can't take getting their feelings hurt, just like the devs can't take negative criticism.

I'll end by saying, one commentor summed it up perfectly. The developers aren't their best friends, all they want is a good game that's working properly. This applies to you as well. You conveniently leave off Eric and Keith from this criticism, as by your own admission you think "Eric is a nice guy, and that you've met him a few times", so I have to ask, why are you giving Eric a pass in this video?? Now I'm not privy to the structure of the development team, however I'd be willing to bet that Eric and Keith have one of the final approvals to what is pushed out. Maybe you should consider putting what can be interpreted as a personal friendship with some of the devs to the side and actually call for the firings of people by name.

Hope the Beard is well!!

DarthBean66: After the last expansion for swtor where we finish off Vitiate for good and then towards the end where that red head padawan was suspicious at the end. Was totally Vaylin. Like wtf happened to that plot line??? Part of me feels like it was either scraped and they decided to move on from it. And part of me feels like it's taking way too long to get to that part where we discover something about that student. Idk I just feel like there was a huge opportunity there and they went, "NOPE BRING IN THE MANDOS!"

wheeloftimem8481: I keep checking back to see if anything changed with swtor... and nope. :(

kriegaone3658: The SWTOR devs suck sure, maybe not completely due to their own faults but definitely a big portion of the blame lies with them. Don't really see how they're putting politics into the actual game though, that's a massive reach.

galacticfirefly: I'm really sad that it came down to this. If someone told the Gamers and Devs from 20years ago that this is the state of Western Gaming in the future of the 2020s. I think people back then would not believe it and laugh their asses off that the world would fall so low to appeal to the Minority.

But alas, i grew up with swtor and if my younger self from 2014 could see where the game is at in 2025, i would've probably cried a waterfall.

Reckless-Unicorn: man... your videos all ways get me my brother... but fk you literally had me rolling a few times, and in saying that i couldnt stop agreeing with what you said... these people NEED to leave their politic out of their job, because like hanesafe said, atm all they are doing well is fucking off the players.... see you on X my Brother

wagrof: Well, it's no wonder development isn't progressing any further. Just imagine if the developers had the performance and efficiency mentality of Elon Musk—how great would the game be then.
