I am from South Africa, and there are a lot of reasons why we aren't really that good

1. We only got SA servers in 2017 (if you weren't already playing rocket league for a long time, this wouldn't really get you into it.)
2. Because of player scarcity, there aren't really that many good players to go up against to become better.
3. Motivation falls off, there is no real "goal" to be really good at video games in South Africa (we don't have large tournaments), its best to just study and find a job and play games for fun.

Disclaimer, South Africa is a great place and if you go to places like Cape Town or Pretoria, I don't think you would feel much of a difference from America, we just have a large portion of poor places. Everyone in Pretoria has solar panels now to combat Loadshedding. But if you don't then the power could be out anywhere from 2 to 8 hours a day and anywhere from 10am to 8pm.
