napakymppi: As Witch always says: "Too much clutter"
VitchAndVorty: The irony...
I mean, it's called Necropolis and it's dead...
DBaronVonV: Not being able to op out of the mechanic itself was a big factor for sure, a lot of my buddies quit on the 1st week cause of that decision alone. Even when the devs made it possible to choose the item base type later on, they were already clocked out.
dreamcore_gg: Once I began to completely ignore Necropolis grave crafting, I started to enjoy the league a lot more, but this is definitely one of the least enjoyable leagues I've ever played.
ersanyzn4356: That Age Of Mythology music brings back lots of good memories
Dizturb3dwun: A lot of the reason my group of buddies have, is less with necropolis itself (TO BE CLEAR: People REAL fuckin mad at uber changes/graveyard) and more massive burnout from over playing affliction
fvzi4861: It all comes down to T17s, I hope they acknowledge this and completely rethink them
djpoe7394: i think you hit the nail on the head with the fomo being one of the main reasons.
Having other people take advantage of mechanics that werent properly tested then cutting that option off for everyone else because they didnt know about it or couldnt access the content yet is a big kick in the nuts for a majority of the playerbase.
They either gotta sleep in the bed they made or roll back so a select few cant take advantage before anyone else.
i think Belton said it best, "POE is only fun when its fair for everyone"
DonaldPulsar: I played this league for about 2 weeks. I got all the way to red maps. And in that ENTIRE TIME, I did NOT get a SINGLE RAW DIVINE. This basically forced me to try and grind mechanics to try and sell stuff for currency instead of making my own currency. I gave up because I just couldn't make enough fast enough for me to feel like I was making progress after each day. It was miserable and just made the game feel like a job where I'm mining crypto manually for a paycheck.
GameplaysAndGaming: It seems like divine drops are so much nerfed that they only exist on eater altars and on map device, wish it would drop more often and that they stop with the lottery of winning 100 divine in single map
Yarsig: It's really annoying that after a month, the grave UI still gets in the way of picking up items. It's so tedious.
sdfjsdjfghssfgdsgvfs: Apart from many unintended exploits that you mentioned, the crafting mechanic with graveyard is too complicated and tedious. You don't have to use all the grave slots but you better if you want a good end game item. Well, a chance at one since you can get 5 great stats and one complete trash one and have fun starting over. Like Pohx getting 2 to all melee skill gems on his RF scepter making that craft a huge waste of time.
skulver: I think there's one other thing you didn't mention, the new league mechanic made levelling and mapping quite a bit harder than it usually is. To people who know the game inside out and have time to spend that's not an issue. As a more casual player I found that where before I could just organically scale my way through to red maps and clearing my atlas this time round my same build as usual was really starting to stall out even in the early red maps and finishing the later ones was painful and time consuming.
It also ends up as a self-reinforcing misery loop, if your build isn't keeping up you die more, meaning your progress goes even more slowly, meaning you are stuck in early maps unable to earn any currency to fix your build.
Having finally come through that though the economy is now dead, I spent an hour yesterday trying to buy stacks of scarabs and only got a single reply. The sad thing is it's just going to get worse as the few people actually bothering to reply burn through their stock.
MattiKettu: I don't see why we need to be sad? This was a pretty much absolutely horrible league. Horrible retention numbers, and hopefully low sales, show the devs that we are totally unhappy about it.
There is nothing "we" need to do, the devs messed this up pretty hard and prioritized horribly, simply said: make a better game / league and we will have much better retention numbers.
I don't like being apologetic towards the devs and blaming this on "us, the players" for not enjoying it.
You mention a lot about income and why people skip out, I think you miss 2 main glaring issues here:
- grave crafting with more slots than storage, bad ui, and optimal requires excel
- forced league mechanic
For me, those 2 were the only reason I stopped playing after reaching lvl90 or so, and I'm not sad I did. Also first league I didn't buy anything, hopefully this sends the message to the devs: we don't want this.
Fade2GrayOG: The economy just felt awful at the low end this league. I felt like I couldn't get on my feet with low investment farming. I think it was a mistake to make the scarab change before the automated trading update. No one wants to constantly buy and sell scarabs just to be able to maintain a worth while farming strategy.
captaincruloc3200: I liked the adjustable atlas tree...that was really nice. Tier 17 maps and bosses, just can't get there, I'm stuck. Scarabs, good, I liked them. Hated following a build, having a good time leveling, get to maps and do fine....then realize to really upgrade I'd have to win the lottery.
aesthet1c33: I havent touch t17 myself, those t17 mod with necropolis league mechanic? Nahh im good
primzfx1940: Not being able to op out of the mechanic.
card425: dang I didn't know the retention was THAT bad
viaveritasvita: after 12 years of PoE1 you came with a league like necropolis, i don't know what to expect from PoE2 to be honest
RamzaBehoulve: The non-league stuff was excellent.
Necropolis itself was just an unnecessary chore. The first thing I did on the alts at first was pick all Necropolis league points to play the mechanic.
After a day or two, I just used the points toning down the mechanic as much as possible so I could actually enjoy the game.
