My Thoughts on the Path of Exile Situation

fvzi4861: Idk I feel like it's just not that big of a deal

Oofmeister: I think it's perfectly fine to be upset or even angry about the way they've announced the 3.26 delay, but the amount of people saying PoE1 is dead/abandoned is absurd.

short9435: I'm happy with my experience with poe2 so far but there is just not enough build diversity. I think I'll be taking a break until the next content push. Remember if you're unhappy, don't doom, take a break and come back when things are in a better place for you!

theonetruemorty4078: I'll say it. I'm hand-waving the malding over this. It's a game by a company that's only been maintaining one game and is now experiencing maintaining 2 games with active player bases. Growing pains happen. They are more communicative, open, and honest than most. If someone is going to crucify them over this, that's unrealistic. It's a clear instance of expectations clashing with reality with emphasis on the sanctity and primacy of expectations. And, to the person below that compared the hand-waving to the type of people that would watch someone's house burn without helping or calling 911... that's frickin' ridiculous.

Shishanann: With how toxic the PoE1 community responded to everything up to this point, I can't blame them for hesitating to bring up the delay. The super aggressive pushback to every decision made is pretty gross and it's going to affect the dev-player relationship negatively until people learn to chill the fuck out. People are acting completely out of hand and it's embarrassing and disturbing to see.

KGUYDOG: Gamers are always one piece of news away from becoming Karens.

gimmefries: Assuming malicious intent from not announcing the delay fast enough is crazy. Its not games, but i work in film. You dont delay a project until one film eats up resources and time of another film to the point where all the hiring and all the overtime in the world wont get the job done anymore. Because there is still a chance. And it happens so much and you pull it off time and time again. The way i see it, they really got blindsided by problems with poe2. And right now is when its just not feasible to do both on that timeline anymore. Especially if they have not been responsible for multiple big titles before. They are learning the hard way.

RKing2023: I’m an old man. I’ve seen many game releases happen that ranged from complete massive screwups all the way to blockbuster awesome launches. I fully expected POE2/1 to have these issues arise.

Sure, it can be argued that it might come off as shady given the full arguments but overall, there have been so so few companies like GGG. Do they live long enough to see themselves become the villain? Maybe. But for me, I’ll let this slide perfectly fine

rllove016148: You are right, this is a bit drama heavy. People crying over this is absurd. His statement is logical and understandable. Situations change so we have to roll with it. If it bothers you that much, put your money in another project.

irishijo1: I mean, realistically they said they woukd continue development. It stands to reason that juggling two products means that the development might have to slow down some before they can manage both at the same time. Let them cook, give them that time. GGG has shown they can turn things around, listen, and deliver

CappySambo: Exactly. The delays aren't totally unreasonable, but I found the outpouring of enthusiastic "Thank you for the transparency!" posts on Twitter from content creators to be completely bizarre. What transparency? LOL

dylanstanfill2897: I've got over 10k hours into poe1 and roughly 200 into poe2. I've spent over $1k on poe1 and $30 on poe2. If they didn't put out a single bit of content for either game out for the next whole year, or ever, I wouldn't feel cheated. 200 hours of entertainment for 30 bucks is worth imo. Complaining about a game not being developed fast enough, or additional content not being released fast enough, is like complaining that you didn't get ice cream with your cake. It's a spoiled, childish mentality. You've had your cake. If you can't wait for your next treat then you don't deserve it.

Yursa_Luna: Really I don't mind if the PoE1 league is delayed and this all seems a little blown out of proportion. There is so many other things to play. I love the game, have over 3000 hours in the game and multiple of the largest $500 supporter pack. But I don't need a PoE new content drug hit every 3-4 months. Just find something else to play and the game will be there when it gets there. Even if the league were to come out, it probably would have been a rather small league anyway.

andym975: Maybe I missed something, but I was under the firm impression that PoE 2 should not be viewed as a direct sequel but a hard break in story and technologies which required a separate PoE title. This is why GGG stated that PoE1 would continue as focused on long-time hardcore player base with PoE2 being more mainstream under direct assurances that PoE1 was not ending. Now, Jonathan has pretty much confirmed that while that's the intent, structurally GGG has at least TEMPORARILY abandoned PoE1 with ZERO timeline or roadmap showing when PoE1 will resume getting attention. The only thing so far is a verbal commitment to PoE1 after some nebulous 0.2.0 and any time needed to remedy critical issues with that update.

AntonioArrudaNeto: Update a game for 10.000 pro gamers that are hating or update a game for 400.000 NEW players that are loving the game and don't complaint seem like a easy choice. I agree that it is not transparent but it is very logical what they're doing for their bussiness.

BBGLEED: Yes, the issue here is the timing. As a path of exile 1 enjoyer back October they made a statement saying they would announce 3.26 end of January (as well as Jonathan himself mentioning a february league multiple times in a live stream. They waited until end of January to tell the community they haven't even worked on PoE1. They've obviously known for months that taking the PoE1 team off the project means no development would get done. Why would you wait until the community is expecting a 3.26 hype announcement to not only delay indefinitely but admit you haven't worked on it at all.

That is massively misleading. The timing and circumstances start dipping their toes into it being a direct lie.

AKG997: people are such drama queens it's crazy.

I would kinda understand it from a one game content creator point of view because it threatens their livelihood. But from what I've seen in this whole drama they're probably the most levelheaded ones.

It sucks to not have a poe1 league after this long of a duration. But honestly, it's not that big of a deal...

mtbmbtmmlp9993: Nailed the main pain point, its not the fact that there is a delay for PoE1, that was pretty much expected to happen during PoE2's EA, the timing of it is what is leaving a bitter taste in my mouth

HermieMunster: Learning curve for them as a studio, they have said as much, refreshing that they are open about this even though it’s frustrating for some.

SoulWraith101: I dont think its a big deal. PoE2 needs the love. I do think they should at minimum do something like an economy reset and let players take a vote on which league mechanic to bring back as a primary for PoE1. I feel like that would be cool.

ThirdEye710: Real early to this one

Poe2 is better, Spend the resources on it 100%

Anyone expecting a completed endgame when half the acts are missing is delusional anyways

GGG did everything right

Ima give them more money, Screw Actiblizzard

POE1 is old as shit, Everyone can go touch grass for a single league, Not the end of the world

Blacknight200: As a fan of Poe 2 im perfectly fine with the news!

TheKadanz: I feel like the people who are waving these concerns away like it's 'no big deal' are those that lack any sort of empathy in general. They are the kind of people who'd see a burning house, take pictures with the caption 'hahaha bitches be cookin inside'.

Some of us Poe 1 players don't want to support an early access product, not because we think it's a bad product but because we like to support a complete game. Many of us have forked over money (double or more the amount of a triple A game) on this game, despite the game being free to play. So the way this news was handled felt like a punch to the gut. Some of us also felt this was done intentionally, starve us of new poe 1 content to make us more inclined to put down money on poe 2 so we get to enjoy new content there. Which is highly divisive if you ask me.

Essentially we're left with 2 real choices, either we put down the money for poe 2 or we keep playing a league we've been stuck in for the last 6 months. A league most of us have done everything that could be done, our builds are complete, we've done our meme builds.

gordontechreviews: A company can only claim a "transparency" title if they are actually always transparent. I would pose a different way to look at this. They saw a way to benefit with some measure of "transparency" on things that don't really matter cause it benefited them. Still, the moment a situation arose where it didn't benefit them, they weren't transparent. This tells me that GGG is NOT actually a "transparent" company that actually believes in the principle but a company that will choose what is in its best interest. Today, it might be transparency, but tomorrow, it might not be.

Mark-vr7pt: My take is that its regrettable but understandable. It doesn't bother me unless they drop support of POE1 entirely.

But now i see why others might be upset.

zonq8924: Poe2 is the golden calf that GGG has raised in becoming a cow. A golden cow that is producing legendary melk. It takes a lot of hands to properly get a glass of this stuff.
