gerald8289: I just spent $32 on one beer and one glass of wine for the wife. For 15 minutes of entertainment. How dare they charge me $50 or whatever for hundreds of hours of entertainment.
rockkiller124: I'm cool with this, would love to support these passionate devs
PierPaoloG: People who work their asses off have to be paid . Period . Shut up and take my money
Kamelosk: im actually glad is paid, they will make big bank and use the money properly, unlike other developers
Theta40: Charging for early access is in my opinion A GOOD THING. You see, “early access” is just a fancy name for what it really is: an open BETA. The purpose of a beta is to test for bugs and get feedback on what people do and don’t like so they can polish the game up for actual release. Keeping it paid means that mostly established POE1 players will play the open beta. Then once the game is polished up and complete, the game will go live as a free game to the public. If the open beta was free, a whole bunch of curious new players would throw themselves into the game, bugs and all, and that would be their first impression of the game—in other words, if it were free, the start of the open beta would be the de facto POE2 launch.
l0lwarrior470: some people's way of thinking in the comments:
Buying the shitty crap looking Diablo 4 for 100$?: YES
Paying 30-50$ to play an actual qualitative game? NO
fireinpoe9317: Im absolutely fine with it being pay to play, I want to support them as much as possible for their hard work
jamesstewart8663: As expected if you had been listening.
andrewbako9494: What we know for sure:
POE2 is free to play
Early access has a fee
GGG has one of the most ethical and fair monetizations out there. It'll probably be inside some type of supporter package meaning the key itself is technically free. They may even do a raffle for people to enter for a free key at some point. Whatever the case is I've probably spent over $500 on POE over the 11 years/10k hours I've played and I don't regret one penny! All I'm hoping is that whatever supporter packs they offer are appropriately epic!
I do think it's a mistake that GGG has not yet put out specific details. Leaving it to the community to keep speculating and putting out information that may be partially or totally incorrect will probably end up upsetting some people. More than likely those some people will be new players coming for what they expect to be free to play only to find out they have to buy a supporter pack misunderstanding the nomenclature early access versus official launch.
amrikwheeler5018: They did the exact same thing for POE1 EA
Chill lol
hermitcraig: I'm totally OK with paid access especially if I get the value in points for GGG mtx stuff
KahranRamsus: Compared to a bunch of the supporter packs I have, paying to get into Early Access is basically nothing. Been waiting for PoE2 for 5 years already. It won't even be a question for me. With how GGG operates, it wouldn't surprise me if we'd get something else aside from access at extra price points. Like, $20USD for EA, $30 for EA plus points $50 for EA plus a couple founders cosmetics, etc.
Vyend: I think it's weird to charge for the early access [aka worst version of the game], when said game will end up being free at official release, I'm not super negative about this but yeah I do think it's weird
JS-ks5oi: Cool with it. Cannot wait. Don’t care the price.
Support good devs.
