Lost Ark

Evil_Befall: i love how thor speaks calm and when he talks about artifact power he goes : And its gone
JK_Snacks: And the worst part is the only way you can go past that brick walls are

1) Lucky enough to win a lottery
2) Grind until you have no life
3) Spend money

Hence, the P2W system. But since I consider paying enormous amount of money in a game is never a win but a loss, I call it P2P, Pay to Progress.
primebg9853: “Up until that point” is the “get hooked” stage. If you get hooked then the horrible feeling after that is there to make you pay real money. New systems come out all the time and you chase those upgrades gated by ridiculous rng so that you get frustrated enough to pay money to end your misery. If you have even the slightest inclination to get hooked on gambling stay away from this game. Far far far far away. It took me spending in the thousands $$ to finally realise how exploited I was and it took serious will power and discipline to quit the game. I hope forever
yodawgzgaming4416: It's crazy how good Warframe holds up from beginning to end after being around for ELEVEN YEARS
ChozotheBozo: One problem with Lost Ark's evergreen progression is that it also raises the expected floor of power. This causes divides and power rat races that alienate new players. One big example is the cards, where you're expected to have sets that take about a year to complete and will be denied raid entry if you don't have.
irishijo1: KMMO's also have alot of really cool class fantasies and designs. Like, BDO's Drakania is a super cool aesthetic, or Lost Arks Gunlancer. KMMO's know how to make really cool and flashy classes, and thats what I love most about them.
voices0000: I'm so grateful for korean mmo's and their RNG upgrade systems
They're probably the only reason I have any free time left. I can't think of much else that could have ejected me from Black Desert, Lost Ark and a few others
tehevilengineer7939: God, nobody tell Thor the 2% has ballooned into 99%
silverlight6074: There is one single problem with evergreen power systems in games: mechanical overcrowding. You can only add so many systems to one game without either making it an incomprehensible mass or making a prior system irrelevant. The best case study we have for this is not a video game, but Dungeons and Dragons 3.5e. It started out with a basic core rulebook, you have 10 or so character classes, they have their personal progression paths. You have Feats, the general progression that applies to everyone (some classes gained extra Feats to make them especially flexible). You have spells
pallenda: My time with Lost Ark.

First two weeks: This is awesome!

Third week: I don't care about lore or quests. It's just pointless filler.

Fouth week: This feels like a bad job.

Fifth week: No longer pays Lost Ark, and I would hate to go back.
MacAttack163: Lost ark is one of the few MMOs I enjoyed and played. Always something new to do, interesting story, and really awesome world building. 10/10 for me
steamyrobotlove: I really enjoyed Lost Ark right up until instant death mechanics in dungeons. Then the risk of failure was so great I didn’t want to group up for fear of screwing up a mechanic.

Edit: oh yeah and the upgrade system. Dear god the failure.
sim.frischh9781: Grind is ok unless it becomes annoying, which can happen fast if there is no noticable gain.
Senseless grind kills joy.
