Vietcongster: You can do it with festival currencies too. I usually get a handsome profit by selling things like Candy Corn Cobs and Snow Diamonds. Buy them after the 2nd half of the festival, and sell them right when the festival goes live.

With a large enough acoount infrastructure (like multiple mule characters) you can store materials like Quartz Crystals, Snowflakes or Candy Corn to either use or sell throughout the year.
