qwerty222999: With all the code and mechanics they have in place (like the summoned door to teleport you to the homestead) I think it would be super cool, if we choose any place in the open world as our Homestead. However that is with the caviat of when you pick a spot (for example the human starting area) you create a private instance of that location, an instance that has no events, no loot, no NPC's, it just has the location. And then you get to decorate it and build in that private instance, creating your homestead. Then when you play in the open world, this doorway will appear only to you (and perhaps party members) allowing you to enter your private home instance.

This would effectively allow us to pick whatever location we fancy to build a home in. Wether it be in Lion's Arch, Orr, in Maguuma or the Crystal Desert. I think that would be super awesome.

odin13th76: My solution to the door on chests is just a game barrier that stops doors/novelties being placed in a 300/450 radius around the node. I mean they know where all chests, nodes spawn so adding a barrier that blocks that stuff should be pretty easy. Or even do the anit-gliding/mount for novelties/doors at the meta chest locations.
