erika5763: Pulling big ammounts of mobs at once is absolutely vital in gw2 as well, but it requires skill to stay alive when you have 10 mobs surrounding you. Figuring out how your active defenses work and how to quickly burst enemies down will make open world gameplay much more rewarding.

you can now play WvW with your friends from different server as long as you all are in the same guild, and choose that guild as your WvW representation.
erika5763: You'll get plenty of free transmutation charges as you play the game more, each map completion gives them, achievement points, festival vendors, etc. I've never bought them from the gemstore.
melinnamba: Mechs are slightly customizable. You can change it's arms and either have huge, jade fists, jade blades or guns. But that's it, sadly.

Charr as a culture have a kinda scrappy tinkerer vibe going on. So I think scrapper (engi) is always a good fit.

What a lot of players do to deal with transmogs while leveling, is just throw an outfit over your gear. There are some really cool looking ones. If mismatched skins bother you, invest in an outfit or two. It's not really a beginner solution, though, since nearly all outfits are gemstore items, unless you're willing to spend real money on them.
simex909: This is not a slow paced game. Your DPS will go up significantly as you learn your class and get better at executing the rotation efficiently. Having a perfect rhythm/timing will give you like 25% dps boost vs. when you first try the class-- even if you think you understand the rotation right away. Just the little things like knowing which skills are instant cast so you can cast them while other skills are channeling, or timing how many auto attacks between cooldowns and stuff like that. It's very skill based. A skilled player with a bad build will trounce an unskilled player on a meta build. If you want to spam your abilities and flex your apm: scourge, weaver, and spellbreaker are good choices
AmadanMath: The #1 use of Karma is obtaining Obsidian Shards, which you will need for crafting Legendary items. One Legendary usually needs 250 Obsidian Shards, each costs 2,100 Karma (though there is other ways to obtain them, this is probably the best one), for a total of a bit over half a million
