Guild Wars 2 Day 4 of

μιχαληςπαυλιδης-γ6γ: Best intro

Nekknak: I’m bummed I missed the stream!

RonnerFTW: Funny thing you mentioning the walkpads, bought one during 2021 due to spending so much time WFH and had the exact same idea. Unfortunately it got procrastinated into oblivion and it's been sitting near the desk taunting me for the last years just waiting for an opportunity to get some use.

Then something magical happened, you started your FFXIV series and I told myself that once it got far enough along that I'd get some new walking shoes and only watch it whilst using the walkpad, took some time but finally started that last month and is currently on part 8, that's 40 hours of just walking right there whilst waiting for the next work meeting! so thank you WP for inadvertently making healthy life changes made for some of us xD

urushii7765: Poor WP... I just started watching this but I hope you remember almost all you said in those last 26 min because I'm loving the heck out of these steams/vids! :D

xuzhang9580: Well definitely do "the missing scout" achievement in the next stream! It's pretty cool in lore and has a call back to a Gw1 mechanic/mini game. Also perhaps it's a good idea to do a comment reading section and pick some comments from the previous streams? I've seen some good explanations and theories there.

joman2729: i would really like PvE only skills for heroes in Guild Wars 1. It would cause a whole new build wars, so many options with just a little change

xuzhang9580: This thing about gilding and the veil is really interesting now. WP talked about the veil being presumably building by Isgarren (through the world spire), and that's my impression too, but I looked through info on wiki, and it seems that Anet is very careful when describing what the spire actually does. They always say it's "a barrier" that the world spire powers, never naming it "the veil"; instead the veil was only described as something that exists between different realms. So this could mean that the veil exists on its own, and Isgarren just built the world spire to add another layer of protection on top of it.

Nevertheless, it's still interesting to think about why the mursaats are unable to return to Nayos. It has been established that they can phase out of Tyria (presumably into a shadow world of some kind), and there's this journal of a young mursaat in the new map (see the Dusty Tome page on wiki), which makes it sounds like that being a gilded would require one to be able to do this phasing. So maybe, when Atticus said "the gilded who've traveled through the veil", he was referring to this phasing ability they have (I don't think it's about the gilded having been to Nayos, because even Darda and Orestes, being considered elders among the mursaats, were born in Tyria and had never been to Nayos (Darda said so in her record), and many of the gilded are much younger than them, like Manikaz). But if the gilded have this phasing ability and phasing means travelling through the veil, then it's weird that they can't get back to Nayos, because Nayos and Tyria are (from what we know) only blocked off from each other by the veil (and the barrier from the world spire if they're not the same thing). So is it that the mursaats can get through the veil, but they just can't FIND Nayos in the mists?? But then how can a mist gate which they don't know where it'll lead to help them?

jamesbond-ck2jo: I'm really glad you've been well! It's been a while since I tuned in (I've been around since the gw1 and the podcast days, lil time on patreon too). I hope you settle in and get comfier, wishing ya all the best!

xuzhang9580: It's pretty weird to think that Celsa was alive near Gw1 time since he had been through the seer-mursaat war, that's like several thousand years in between. So maybe the arch steward in Atticus's journal wasn't Celsa? But then we don't know how long mursaats can live, so it's still possible.

jamesa1807: Very keen on the idea of you doing a new GW1 LP, hope you do it :)

GinTheirin: I've been thinking about getting an adjustable desk and trying a walking pad for a while now - but if it's good enough for WP, it's good enough for me! Ordered and it should arrive Friday, maybe I'll even get to catch the next stream on it

emilymalkieri: Re:home fitness: I got that adjustable desk treadmill setup on the cheap (~450€ total, not including the wood plate that I re-used from my old desk). I don't use it enough unfortunately but it works quite well, just make sure it's perfectly aligned so that you're looking straight ahead and walking in the same direction that you're looking. I can go ~2.5 km/h without issue while working like normal and ~4 km/h if I'm just reading stuff on the screen. My treadmill's small enough that I can turn it 90 degrees and stow it below the desk for when I'm sitting, only issue is that I then forget to take it back out.

Nightly_Winter: The combat in GW2 and FFXIV are worlds apart on the surface. But what Tab-target and action combat has taught me is that the more harder you make any encounter, the more formulaic you have to make it. So action combat is doomed to fail in that scenario, since harder content will just make action combat messy version of tab-target. Look at WoWs Mythic raids, at max difficulty the fights still have rhyme, repetition and formula to them.

(Couldnt think of any action combat hard MMOs, Maybe Throne and Liberty but its still very dance-like fights just more cheezable)

There will never be a boss fight in an MMO thats unique for every single time you try to fight it for ever single player.

The reason being that no matter how hard fight you make, everything has to be beatable.

Although GW2 has easily much better combat system, but FFXIV has slowly but surely increased its game difficulty to encounter skill lvl increase of your average player over the course of 11 years.

Thats not to say GW2 hasnt done it, but their lack of serious commitment to Mid-core and Hardcore content over the years is making ArenaNet always playing catchup compared to FF and WoW.

Kinda like that saying if you miss one day of practice you need to train 3 days to get it back.

trippingbears1016: 26 minutes of face cam, gone!

SheliaBachch: My boyfriend watched this video with me and now he wants to become a blogger too. Although he would like to learn how to cook first
