thehurricane6767: If wuk lamat is with us in 8.0 msq, i might just become a story skipper
ashervandale: For me, if we get another expansion like this, I'll have to put this game down.
williamw7685: Given that Wuk Lamat is 90% of the story, I feel like saying “it’s not just Wuk Lamat” is kind of an oxymoron.
/s
I do agree though. So many moments in the story had me baffled.
yuina88: I wasnt expecting another Shadowbringers or Endwalker
But for them to make an MSQ even worst than ARR is quite something
ministabber4927: MSQ boring and childish, the rest of DT is awesome.
necnotv1683: Ngl I was close to quitting multiple times during the MSQ. But I decided to push through. After I was finally done with it I actually completely stopped playing and am now taking a break and play other games.
Zidana123: The problem has a name, and it's Daichi Hiroi. He is the MSQ writer for 6.1 - 7.0. Until this is articulated clearly you guys are just beating around the bush and not getting to the heart of the matter.
The franchise format obscures the true nature of the writer. Because all of it is XIV, people tend to think there is some kind of continuity. People abstract it into a sort of gestalt entity, which is 'the writers.' And they tend to view the works as interchangeable. But if they were presented with two books, one by Natsuko Ishikawa
DilzwieldKing: Wut Lmao was the worst part of Dawntrail (in particular, the lack of explicit character development, WAY too much screentime, etc), but I don't think she was the sole reason why Dawntrail MSQ was bad. For example, I think the beast tribes were one dimensional and uninteresting, the story seems like it got dumbed down and sanitized for a child audience (like come on, rubber bullets?), and the pacing was bad (way too much dialogue, not enough combat)
Yeah definitely, WL was bad, but I think she was just a symptom of a bigger problem
natebroadus8474: Honestly, without Wuk Lamat I'd actually say I loved Dawntrail--it's just that she's so much a part of it, you don't even get a chance to breathe.
Gulool Ja Ja? Loved him. It was like getting to experience the journey of the WoL. I could totally see someone taking this journey around Eorzea/Hydaelyn to relive our legacy someday.
Bakool Ja Ja? Loved him. Yes, he nearly killed a lot of people by releasing Valigarmanda. The guy comes off like a teenager, which he probably is, and God knows teenagers do really stupid things, sometimes. That said, we can see why he was so reckless--he was carrying the hopes and dreams of his dead brothers and sisters. He had a dad who pinned the fortune of his people right on his shoulders. That's a lot of fucking weight to carry. His redemption arc was one of my favorite things about Dawntrail. Again, subtract Wuk Lamat and I could totally see the WoL leading him to the same redemption--in fact, that might have been more believable.
Koana? Loved him. His VA was pretty damn good, and I actually think the 2nd half of Dawntrail would have been better if he'd gone with us over Wuk. He was the tech-savvy guy, he could have added more to the Solution 9 scenes, and we could have seen through his eyes the danger of over-dependency on technology.
Imagine if Wuk Lamat didn't come with us for the 2nd half of Dawntrail, but came back just for Living Memory. I could have lived with that, and the brief reprieve would have made her character more bearable. It would have given more story time to Erenville and Krile, and it would have allowed more character building for Koana and the other Scions.
Also, that last scene with her breaking in out of nowhere in the raid, that needed to go. It didn't land, and it felt so out of place as to be cringe-worthy.
Dawntrail overall was awesome. The dungeons, music and raids are S-tier. It just needed to lay off a little on the Wuk Lamat. It was too much.
cattysplat: Already unsubbed from the game to enjoy a real summer vacation. Hope so much the Post MSQ is better.
FuyuYuki92: Same here. I had a good time doing the MSQ, partially even forced myself not to second guess what I‘m being presented. But the more time I‘ve had to reflect upon everything that’s happened, the angrier I‘ve become. Especially after doing the Arcadion story which reminded me of what could have been. So disappointed.
FutayuriShironeko: Wuk also having the MC role in the "moments" made sense story-wise (which wasn't very good), but not gameplay-wise.
It's still YOU the player fighting the battles, and Wuk swooping in during the cutscene to take center stage that made me dislike player character's "mentor" role to Wuk due to gameplay format remaining the same and not being able to facilitate it properly, not so much Wuk herself.
Also the meme of talking to Wuk 130 times, actually showcases how bad the writing in DT is that nearly EVERYTHING is forced to be told through interactions with a singular character, since she needs to be there for her 7 glowing pokemon tokens. Then later she is JUST always there for Sphene... How? Why? Who cares, because the story doesn't, she just needs to be there even thought at that time player character taking the MC role again would make 13000% more sense than Wuk for the context of both story and gameplay.
ricardomesquita4827: Please don't be afraid to say that Wuk Lamat is a problem. The more the community repudiates the way they treated this character, the less likely they are to do it again.
BiscuitsV2: I have so many more problems with this MSQ than just Wuk Lamat. There are so many inconsistencies, plot holes, and plot conveniences that create yet more plot holes. Wuk Lamat is at the bottom of a long list of problems I have with DT's story. Hopefully they can pull it back in the following patches, but the core is so rotten that I don't know if there's any saving it. I guess we'll see.
Jay-bz5qk: When a cook makes you a meal that makes you sick, you dont respect their work. I am sorry but I dont appreciate the lead writers work in DW and 6.5. MSQ. Those two together are easily the worst piece of story content this otherwise amazing game has had and I hope YoshiP acknowledges this in the next live letter.
Foxkiin: Shes a symptom
not the disease
LazyVanny: I feel like Dawntrail's story was mid as Stormblood, but at least in Stormblood I warmed up to Lyse while still slightly hating her.
But the post story content things have me excited, I just hope 8.0 is better with MSQ.
