Gofr5: Estinien got the vacation that we were promised.
1ch1r1n: Dude, Dawntrail being a pirate expac would have gone so fucking hard holy shit
abr4544: It's so incredibly funny that Yoshi-P said that Dawntrail would have the scions at each other's throats and their relationships would be strained due to political conflict and differing opinions. Meanwhile Dawntrail actually had "opposing scions" just totally chill and no conflict whatsoever. We absolutely got scammed and get another solid 2 years of content droughts and lazily implemented additions.
But it's okay, at least they're taking a 4 hour maintenance break tonight to fix 2 lines of dialogue that they forgot to translate out of 4 quests. :)
LuLuTheGremlin: Regarding emet selch yeah I know hes not sundered so screw it, he went on his pirate adventure 10 years ago, and stored his soul on a computer as a back up or something. I'll make it work xD
Sithalos: This is unironically better than the bipolar Dr. Seuss book that we got.
liamwilson7549: I seriously want a berserk level expansion where everyone we’ve adventured with gets murdered horribly and we lose all our powers to a major villain.
ShmoofWB: I remember meeting Bakool Ja Ja and immediately thinking, I hope he stays just as he is. I am so tired of villains doing a 180 and learning the power of love and friendship. I miss when villains were evil, unrepentant assholes. Maybe that's why Kefka has always been my favorite villain in the Final Fantasy series.
tyhjyys: dawntrail devs eating pencils at their desk: "needs more false city and obligatory world ending scenario"
BaithNa: Imagine how different DT would be if Wuk was just based on Karlach?
I think that change alone makes DT 100× better
kaslmers4253: I just wanted Dawntrail to be the vacation it was promised to be, us exploring a new land, taking care of local issues and a build up to a simple villain that just wants to rule the region.
hi5GamesLP: just bringing back emet-selch is no better than star wars episode 9 "Somehow palpatine returned" he had his arch and it's over, but I do agree that there were muuuch better options to make the story interesting, even with the basic setup and characters already implemented in 6.5, but they chose not to, because they are either lazy to put more effort into the story mechanics or because SE isn't giving them enough budget
ritto1463: Just the idea of Wuk having a personality closer to Karlach already improves the story a lot. Congratulations, it was a very creative and interesting plot, a more piracy-focused expansion would give more freedom to create a sense of adventure
Calios: Dawntrail was a great vacation expansion. For Estinien!
(Already quit FFXIV in November to go play with my friend in WoW for the first time in 6 years, but always love watching your vids!)
Sydney_Belladonna: As cool as a pirate xpac would be I kinda wish we got…… The xpac Endwalker promised us.
Wuk Lamat’s character changed between Endwalker and Dawntrail.
Originally she was a capable but anxious hunter who loved her father and wanted to stop her brother, the warmonger, from ruining the well laid peace.
In Dawntrail it’s the same but she’s not confident anymore. She’s just kind of a loser. And she has to constantly relearn why peace is important. She already knew that, that’s why we went with her is because we agree war is bad.
Dawntrail should’ve been the entire Rite of Succession but instead of learning the fairy tale of how the land came to be we get to be more involved doing things with everyone giving everyone more time to exist in Tural.
Then the main story ends with Zoraal Ja disappearing after losing really hard. And the game drops a bunch of fun vacation-y activities that are just fun little romps to go on.
Then the patch content can introduce Solution 9 as Zoraal Ja comes back at the entire patch series is a slow rebellion into Solution 9. Then Zoraal Ja gets more screen time, isn’t relegated to a door boss to the final boss, and the family themes are more important.
Wuk being a guide and not a student would also be better for her character we can see her love for her country and we could see time and again that war or conflict would ruin the things she enjoys.
theparodywizard677: This shit is genuine FIRE! Please cook again.
peachyraife: I'm hooked on the story already! Already way better than what we got in Dawntrail.
DilzwieldKing: We need another Dalamud event, but the moon lands directly over Tural only (I'm piloting the moon)
PynekTheHrothgar: Overall good ideas.
But truth be told even if it wasn't a nice vacation as we were promised the DT story could have been silly and fun and relaxing but the writting was just shit and they put focus on stuff that nobody gave a shit.
Ninos.D: Modern writing: Noone is truly evil. Redemption for you! Redemption for you! Redemption for EVERYONE!
MurakamiTenshi: Me and my friends were speculating that Solution 9 was actually a remnant elder civilization from the Lightning Calamity, ruled by the missing Ascian Altima... I wish that were the case ...
RukiKunOfficial: I want to hear more about the water park now
calprey: I would change just one thing, the reincarnated ascian to be any of the others that didn't appear yet: Pashtarot, Altima, Halmarut and Deudalaphon. Pashtarot in particular would be a good antagonist due to being a preserver of discipline and order previously(according to the wiki). The new incarnation would be shocked at the pirate stuff and he would at first try to integrate and change their way of doing things from the inside but would fail and fail until he has enough and just decides that pirates are uncouth savages that need to be removed from the civilized world and then things would escalate from there. Could be even a dark mirror to how Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn didn't force change in Limsa Lominsa and pratically just pointed new targets for her pirates until she could stabilize things little by little over the years in contrast to Pashtarot's iron fist approach.
nightvision_887: Know what I liked about this idea? NO mention of the Scions. Just my character and an all new cast.
Spika94: That jumpscare was diabolical.
Tamari001: A mention of El Dorado reminded me of something I was hoping for from Dawntrail before it released. A story like the Mysterious Cities of Gold. Not a complete copy, but something like it. Imagine finding something like the Golden Condor - and using it as part of the story, complete with a Soken theme to match the original having a great score!
I didn't actually expect the DT writers to draw from that source, it was wishful thinking. But I did not expect them to use Poochie as inspiration either!
Tamari001: I don't think I like the particular thread of events, but the core idea I could buy. Loop in some of the Limsa pirates, er, excuse me, "contractors" and keep Emet out of it. Let the man have his nap! What if it's Lahabrea instead, especially what we know from the raids about him?
Regardless of nitpicking, it's way more interesting than what we've gotten so far. To answer Erenville on the boat, "No, NO, I'm NOT enjoying myself at all!"
