wackyzap1304: I'm still in awe that they made Koana initially the technology/innovation-loving guy, and they didn't leverage that into a story arc where he visits Solution 9 and learn how the overuse and overreliance on technology was detrimental. Instead, we got his entire backstory and characterization ignored, tied to Wuk Lmao or stapled into Patch 7.1.

Preservation could have lied about Sphene's passing and put her in a suspended animation like Raha as a fail safe if Queen Eternal ever failed.

somnbody: My overall take from DT and where it falls short is that with the big picture of the story there is a lot exciting and interesting things going on. But its the actual delivery (unbalanced voiceover vs no voiced scenes, Scions hamstrung for no reason, way too much Wuk) that fell short. There was a really noticeable drop in quality and a lot of opportunities for single player instanced content that were just baffling and boring cutscenes. Hope all of this improves as we move ahead into what is otherwise a very interesting setup.

MidnightEkaki: wanna say i totally agree about the outrage conent about ffxiv at the moment my veteran ffxiv friend agrees shes been there for all of the expansions and says a lot of the 'issues' people are bringing up in these videos are issues the game has had long before DT its now just trendy for the algorithm to be complaining about it right now. we both enjoyed DT's story.

vaercova: I think the biggest issue in the story is that none of the new characters (or Scions for that matter) got to breathe because the writers hyperfixated on Wuk Lamat. I like Wuk Lamat as a character overall, but holy crap they made her have the 3rd most lines in the game in one expansion. Like damn lol. Poor Krile got neglected yet again.

WeisseningBlitz: If it helps Jessie any, most mobile game stories ARE garbage and rely pretty heavily on the fan service draw. Stuff like FGO or the MiHoYo games are more of an anomaly, but even then they kinda fall somewhere between FFXI and FFXIV on the quality scale, arguably closer to XI. And it's unfortunate because mobile is where a lot of JRPGs migrated to for the sake of cheap development and piecemeal service schedule. This has led to a lot of games dying before they could really tell their story or the obvious stringing things along to maximize profits because he's Waifu #2 in her Swimsuit Skin that's really OP so you better pull.

Contrived plot points, stilted dialogue, waaaay too much focus on Wuk Lamat, disjointed plot arcs, those wacky song choices, the kid was entirely and utterly unnecessary, and they completely dropped the ball on Krile—it all just added up to frustration for me

1337penguinman: DT was them basically doing ARR where they throw a bunch of stuff at the wall to see what sticks. The 2 main issues with that are in ARR you had 50 levels worth of time to do that, where DT obviously you didn't. Plus Wuk Lamat being there for literally all of it and essentially being the main character really hurt it as well. This might be a controversial take, but an MMO should ALWAYS focus on the player character. Otherwise you might as well just be watching a movie or tv show. It's like going to the movie theater and they just hand you a book to read.

Also, that mystery kid at the end of the trailer is the Azem shard from the 9th and they're using him to operate the key. It's why he's hooked up to an IV. Especially with the way they have him juxtaposed with the WoL in all the trailer imagery. I'm guessing preservation is actually an endless version of an Ascian and their soul is actually what powers Everkeep. It's why Sphene's crown looks like an Ascian sigil.

barisaxman2: I agree with the merch convo. I was in Japan recently and was looking around Akihabara for FF related stuff and there was barely anything compared to all the anime stuff. Best thing i could find was the retro versions of FF7 characters vinyl models and it was one of those mystery boxes, you couldn't buy them outright.
