FFXIV My Thoughts on AAC Cruiserweight Savage

rafagd: Anyone ready for Brute Undertaker on M11?

notmousse: I'm highly disappointed we've been through 8 matches in Savage and not yet have we met Randy.

zanon3362: I think PF and statics probably had the least similar experience this tier. I've always been of the mindset that PF is just friends/static you don't yet know, but man it has been rough so far.

I was whm leading up to the release of DT, and then did picto for M1-M4. This tier, i decided i would go back to whm, getting my 2 tome pieces towards that.

After much struggle with M5, the single group i got and the single pull where we got perfect groove on both dances was the clear. It's amazing how many damage downs and deaths get accumulated on the journey, leading to probably 10 enrages of 0.5-5%.

I only cleared M6S about 2 hours before the week 1 reset. I mentioned that i was going to do this as whm, but... after 10ish hours(according to tomestone), i decided to switch back to picto and immediately consistently saw waves 3/4 spawn, then finally ram enrage, then adds cleared. It is wild how much agency the dps have in the fight. It went from a REGULAR 1-2 squirrels potential exploding as the jabberwock died, to squirrels being essentially dead as the jabberwock became targetable. While it was fun to prog the fight as heal, the fight becomes unbearable if you just can't break the add phase barrier.

But so far? Other than that frustration, i think this tier is great. I think if anyone decided to take this tier slowly / wait for more widespread gear upgrades in PF, you'll have alot more enjoyable time than if you were hardcore progging.

Edit: forgot my main point of the post. FF14 REALLY would benefit from being able to gear up multiple jobs quicker. I feel super bad that I felt forced to switch off whm to picto while already having spent basically 2 weeks of capped tomestones on it. I'm not going to bother suggesting possibilities here because that's talked about to death elsewhere, but basically feelsbadman. Sure, world first people or whatever would itemize the meta dps (i.e. viper) to parse out M6S as an example, but it would be worth it to make the rest of a little happier.

SpencerMepham: Definitely the best tier ive experienced in FF14. Thankfully I have a static so I can usually avoid the horrors of PF we had to fill a tank one time this tier and jesus the amount of memers or people who wont give anyone a second to learn or discuss the fight is insane. I truly feel for anyone who has to do these without a static.

bagnetic8910: An under appreciated aspect of M5S: there's actually a real DPS check in there. Progging with randoms in PF took forever simply because people suck at doing Arcady and then can't meet the DPS check. You can recover and still progress mechanically, but you can't just zombie through it like Black cat.

blueskyfantasyyc: Can't clear M5S on PF to save my life

TenchiSawada: M6s was absolutely amazing. I think this was one of the best/fun week 1 experience i had EXCEPT for M8s. but not because of the fight. simply because the amount of bodies there were to actually PF. Was waiting in Party finder for HOURS and not filling. I think the fight (phase 1 at least) is super fun, engaging and holy shit fast.

This tier is absolutely great and I hope they continue with this raid design going forward. Yes You need fights like M5s. You need fights like M7S (even though i wish it had a little more spice). but Those fights mixed in with something Like M6s and M8S are things that will keep FF raiding Fresh and engaging.

TeaTimeRumble: This tier got me to quit the game

Not because its bad content, its a good tier, the fights are fun but PF is such a nightmare that it is no longer worth my time

The idea of going back into PF every week, on top of every other issue with the game, i would rather do something else

They finally did it, they finally made content so good that i dont want it ruined by other players and a terrible gear system

clovi: M6S feels really like a criterion dungeon to me. Wouldn't be surprised if a criterion designer did it.

elleeVee: this tier is probably so sweet if you have friends to do it with, but as someone whos only ever raided in PF, this is probably the most miserable ive ever been raiding, just completely garbage

bunka_hi: I'm in the PF trenches for M6S and I honestly want to quit the tier because of it. I play as either Shield or Regen depending on what the PF needs. I can't keep doing this man. If it ain't Yan getting buffed, it's a puddle killing the tank, if it isn't puddle killing the tank it's the puddle dot killing the DPS, if it's not puddle dot killing the DPS it's the Jabba stabbing me, if it isn't the Jabba stabbing me it's no mitt on the raid wide, if it's not no mitt on the raid wide it's the Mus, if it's not the Mus it's the cat, if it's not the cat it's Jabba 2 stabbing me, if it's not Jabba 2 stabbing me it's the mantas not dying, if it's the mantas not dying it's the yans getting buffed-- On top of all of this the amount of DMG I can or cannot do depends on how well my tanks handle their mitts. I can't do this anymore man. I've had over 210 wipes to this fight. I don't have a way to log so some logs are missing, 210 is all the logs logged by other players. 8 hours a day for 4 days. I can't. I can't. I can't.

Also, Toxic/Hector(Toxic 2)/Latte/Cleavemaxxing? I thought we were doing ur mom?

Armydillo62o: Just now getting my toes into the savage tier. Getting through that first dance floor mech just made me feel “oh yeah, this is gonna be a good raid tier”

You said it. It’s fun.

fadedflame9953: I've cleared 5-7 and currently proggin moonlight on PF and OMG this has been one of the best experiences I've had (Started doing savage on last tier)

shiznaztm: Fight Design: 10/10

Job Balance: 3/10

TheOptimistDelusion: My only complaint is the atrocious imbalance in aoe rotations. It's a picto FRU situation all over again but this time the culprit is viper. That job puts out so much aoe damage compared to any other job that you're handicapping yourself by not having one for m6s

Zumi81: For a PF player this feels like the worse tier they ever created the amount of time needed to clear M5S.

Cyzir: Honestly the only real negative mark I have against M8S is not being able to fight during the transition, I loved that bit during M4S and was kind of hoping there'd be another moment like that. Still very good fight tho.

Commander_Spyke: I thought this raid tier has been absolutely fantastic. As someone who only progs through pf though, I can say that I usually get to avoid all the forced guides that everyone does and just read the pf description to figure out what we're doing. But this time I saw maybe 3 out of hundreds of pfs doing that. What happened to typing out strats? I have a screenshot that is a full page of pfs, all just say raidplan. There were 5 DIFFERENT RAIDPLANS BETWEEN THEM!

Ajin718: The problem with m6s is that people don’t understand prio.

zyeran: Second Encounters of the Sugary Kind

jamesharbor4893: Yan bashing my skull in the moment the OT drops will always be goated

SlasherSRL: Wanted to share my own experience here. Going in for the first time in a static. Got to m8s by Friday. Sadly never cleared it. Got all the way to the green blue tethers and the end of m8s p2. Felt like I really put everything I had into this week doing what is for me long hours every single day, on Sunday our group sadly stopped and I only ended up PFing to no success clear wise. Still an incredibly fun tier in my opinion with new challenges especially as a healer.

LuneKnight1221: I havnt done it, as i dont really have the time, but they look intense and fun

ObscureTutorials: Hearing such high praise for this raid tier is always great to see. And man it really does look fun having watched your clears. And the music is awesome. I desperately want to play but I've been hardcore dedicated to XIV since HW released and raiding since then til now. The trade off being i missed a ton and TON of games and series. It took so much to break myself away from XIV but I've got a healthier relationship with the game and have started the Ys series and Legend of Heroes recently. Games I would've never had time for before with hardcore progging. I hope the next tier is as awesome as this one as others are claiming and hope you guys enjoy. Oh yea having left my static back in EW whom I've been with since forever did hurt my motivation a bit to raid but I see it as a positive towards a healthier relationship with XIV lmao. PF is always a mixed bag and I feel people's pain when they say they love the raid but can't be bothered to sit in PF. PF has definitely gotten worse since the early days of XIV though I couldn't pin point exactly why for you; there's a ton of reasons I'm sure. The lightweight tier of savage is likely the only tier I will have done for this expansion what with the new DOOM coming and Bravely Default remaster. I'm ranting but grats to the team for this tier as it seems lots of people enjoy it when not suffering in PF.

KrazyBean14: I just love how so many veterans love Midas. That tier really was goated.

I would say my top 3 are:

Midas, this, then Second Coil.

Oh wow, look at that, they're all 2nd tiers lmao.

bubbles6089: This is my first savage tier I have partaken in and even though I have to use pf ive been having such a blast. It's makes me smile seeing myself actually improve and make my way through the fight. ^^
