1Shayz1: It's crazy to think that the biggest source of feature competition for FFXIV might end up being its mobile version
coffeethief7550: I keep seeing things in Mobile that i want in the real game.
Thedarkglave360: Wait...the tackle box is in mobile 14 but not regular 14!?
trawll8659: I would be embarrassed if I worked on the main FFXIV game and saw the mobile version had better features and QoL
runasth: I'm gonna call it now. The mobile version is gonna look so much more polished, refined and feature-complete that it's gonna overtake the PC version. It doesn't suffer from all the thecnical difficulties holding the main game back, not to mention it is being developed outside of Japan. So idea, if anything's gonna kill FFXIV, it will be, ironically enough, itself. Or rather, its mobile version.
DacianGradaMusic: Even if we know it's a separate team, the "main" devs have to be at least aware of the implementations in the mobile version and I hope it will inspire them to add some in the main game.
Sure, spaghetti code and all that, but they can totally add some of the QoL stuff we've seen so far without any issue.
The dream would be "they're working on it" with a major QoL overhaul patch that will coincide with Mobile's global release, whenever that will be. COPIUM
NibelungJ: The fishing part could be expanded if you colab with Fruits Snack. Maybe even invite him for a full fledged State of the Realm episode, talking explicitly about fishing.
Maybe he can even convince you to start big fishing
awworrell: Well once again mobile is superior to the main game. The fishing log in the main game isnt' that detailed and there are websites that show that information to help track it. It's sort of depressing to see how many requests have gone into this version of the game that square can't seem to find the time to implement or fix.
Rangrok1k: I suspect the crafting will be received as well as expert recipes. People who enjoy crafting and making their own crafting rotations tend to enjoy expert recipes, but the RNG factor makes it functionally impossible to create a reliable macro. Furthermore, even people who like expert recipes can get tired of them when working on items in bulk. They're fine for 1-and-done items, but it would be a pain to expert craft the hundreds of potions people burn through during prog raiding.
Quick synthesis could change things, but if there isn't a method to reliably produce HQ items through quick synthesis, then retail will have the upper hand.
coryaustin7379: I really want to see what excuse they vomit out explaining why they can't.....won't implement some of these features.
donimmortal7692: Finger crossed someone will go untangle those spaghetti in the main game.
Soress9: Having essentially gather buddy plugin, macro for your fish cast so you could echo the time already implimented...They are making me seriously jealous right now. Im at a point of where I am tempted to switch to mobile when i comes out unless squeenix can persuade us that some of these qol will be coming to retail.
Sil3ntLynx: Being able to get bait from any storage space at any time would be nice, but as someone who's used to having half their saddlebag be composed of bait and bait alone I don't really mind it a ton. Would be a nice upgrade, but it's not much of one in my head. The fishing timer though, I want that; I use Fruity Snacks' cast timer macro now and then and it's decent, but a proper timer would be outstanding. The log itself telling you fishing windows is both great and a lil bit "aww, but people figuring it out is part of the fun too" if that makes sense lol
The multiple types of crafting modes do sound interesting. It could be fun to be more varied, but I did also think about the Gold Saucer minigames a bit and taking forever to craft something simple because I need to hit a certain number of things even when I should have the stats to brute force it in a moment's notice could be tedious lol. My question is... If a craft is completely trivial to your stats or your character has done it X number of times or Y number of times in HQ or such, can you just quick craft them in HQ? Because that's something I wish was in retail lmao. If I can create a HQ craft in one step 100% of the time, it should just make it HQ when I craft it 100% of the time. But that's the cost of convenience I suppose.
joshg7949: I quit playing ff14 after Endwalker but might come back to it if this gets a PC port
enkoa: I'll end up playing this on a pc together with the main game lol
gerardrosario3855: The people wanting stuff to be like the mobile version will be the first ones to complain that the game looks and feels too much like a mobile game.
abdelrahmanrad: people in the comments treating this game as not ''real'' is weird lol idk what happened to the west. mobile games are real games and sometimes even better than all new PC games cuz Nvidia destroyed PC gaming basically and everyone is shifting to Arm now.
edit: mobile games can be played on PC 100% normally just like PC games since you can install mobile operating system on PCs for a decade now. let alone official emulators integrated inside Windows and Linux now
davood123: Is it in prod yet what is monetization like?
teoakio1902: Hi happy do you think there's a chance they add the mobile version UI to the retail game? It's so clean, pretty and well-organized I really wish for it...
tazersmurf4689: The fishing stuff looks real nice. Wonder if Fruity Snacks has been shown any of the footage. I'm not sure how I feel bout the crafting mini games though.
1Mrstephen: How is it that UI graphics look better than the PC version? I have it on 4k and wat hung this video makes a few things stand out for sure.
Ghost200x: yea its nice they were able to put all this in when they rebuilt it
SuperSnivMatt: Some of this I like in theory (or just as a whole such as bait changes) but I do think this is something that is good for THIS version but maybe wouldn’t be great for retail. Fishing giving timers automatically takes away from the most exciting time for the big fishers on the community as finding the right bait, time, weather pattern, etc. is a beloved community effort. The lil things like the drop down of the fishing spot though would be great.
For crafting, I know so many friends who are confused by what is imo a super simple crafting procedure, so having like 7 unique ways to craft might be a lot. The ideas ARE really neat but people may be less inclined to actually pursue it if that came to retail
I expected them to shake a lot of things up in Mobile because 1. A decade of experience and a NEW engine, and 2. If it was 1 to 1 everything, there’d be a lot less desire for current XIV players to play BOTH as it’s just crafting but smol screen. And fishing but smol screen etc. etc.
I’m glad this game seems to be carving its own things out well, and I do think this avenue can help the CB3 team gauge new ideas and mechanics as a whole
GimmeTOKYO: Ooh, the smithing activities remind me of crafting in DQ11(S)
mkgenov3691: Are we going to have this on iOS?
TheLMBLucas: FFXIV: a dress-up mmorpg with some slow combat that you do for more cute outfits and mounts
FFXIV Mobile: what FFXIV should actually be
AruLily: wow they're finally doing something i complained about since i started playing in HW, i came from a game called Mabinogi, i loved crafting, because of the mini games, though i still like mabi's better, i wonder what cooking would look like.
What about fff14 mobile housing?
