FFXIV 7.2 nailed it...

zyndyr5984: I completely agree with your stance on the new sphene. She's already hit the right buttons more than any other character in dawntrail for me. I do pray she becomes our new groupie haha

JacobDonut6378: Sphene is best girl. The irony of her being known as the queen of reason yet she showed so much resolve in confronting the villains when they tarnished the memories of Alexandria is chef kiss.

bolladragon: I KNOW they're listening since they had THREE moments Wuk Lamat was willingly separated from us so other characters could talk while still keeping in line with her caring characterization. Even she's allowed to breathe a bit.

nyl6859: Feels good to have something positive to talk about again!

RidleyUwO: They’re not off the hook yet, but getting Wuk Lamat to go away for the most part, Sphene becoming an actually interesting and likable character, and getting a decently interesting villain is such a good direction this expansion so desperately needed. Of course, when Wuk Lamat did turn her gaze in my direction, I became rationally enraged, but it’s a huge improvement. All they have to do is drop Alisae and Krile calling Wut Lmao llama tea.

Zakjuh: Not to harp on the old "WUK BAD" thing again, but I just have to say I find it really funny that they exposed us to so much Wuk in 7.0 in an attempt to make us like her and form a connection and all it did was make a bunch of people dislike her more than Lyse.

And then realSphene pops up for one brisk patch and most people I've seen opine on 7.2 love her and want her to be a Scion.

I know it a 100% is because Sphene comes off as very human, unlike Wuk who is a haphazrdly cobbled together collection of shonen tropes, but it also just proves how you don't need a character that has more dialogue in one expansion than multiple recurring characters in several expansions for people to like them.

siyrean: I refuse to believe it’s the same writers as 7.1, someone absolutely has stepped in.

VashimuXIV: I genuinely really enjoyed 7.2’s MSQ. Sphene feels like a proper addition to the cast. I love her chemistry with us and having to adjust to this new world she’s awoken too, as well as the steaks that have risen as a result of getting to properly see more behind the curtain. I eagerly wait to see what happens next in 7.3.

ozmintheobserver: All I can think about is Sphene in short shorts..then again my name.

blueskyfantasyyc: I loved 7.2. Wuk Lamat became a side character. OG Sphene is incredible and I can't what till she becomes a party member. The villain is mysterious, is a real threat. This MSQ left me wanting more.

chelsthegameruiner8669: My biggest fear is that this new antagonist will only be exclusive to the post-MSQ storyline. Unlike Zoraal Ja, I ACTUALLY fucking like this villain because of how sinister he comes off as. Literally a guy playing God, who isn't an Ascian as far as we know. I want more of that, not villains with daddy issues.

If he does become the antagonist of 8.0, I'll be happy. If he isn't, I only hope the next antagonist is just as likeable as him and not another Zoraal Ja

gamer11011101: Oh wow, I did NOT make the connection that the sand at the start of the dungeon was people. Wow, that is dark.

My theory about Calyx is that before he became an Endless, he was bedridden with that lightning disease. IIRC it was stated he had it, but it wasn't gone into detail how severe it was. By becoming an Endless, Calyx is free to move around and actually do things, thus why he sees Endless as an evolution.

Chaoshadow-SA2: I won't lie. That assassination attempt was easily the funniest way a villain in this game has tried to deep six me.

Like will somebody PLEASE get these people my track record?

PetarBladeStrok: 7.0 final zone is still my favorite part of DT story. Even though it's flawed, it's still by far the most emotional part of DT. BUT 7.2 is easily the 2nd best part of DT to me! And it IS better paced and has better attention to detail than any of 7.0. I'm optimistic.

nickopkins: This patch for me was far better than all of 7.0 and 7.1 combined. It's also the first patch where I can really see the extra dev time actually being represented in the game.

elrilmoonweaver4723: While 7.2 is a return to form when it comes to how FF14 used to handle storylines before post-EW, I do believe it's retreading ground that we've seen trod before. The impostor plotline has been explored already in 5.2 with Elidibus and Ardbert. While I appreciate them trying to write as little of Wuk Lamat as possible, point of the matter is they have yet to introduce the character who could have had much more insight into the Alexandria since 7.0, Koana, into this tech-related setting. I don't care what this story means for Wuk Lamat, I am interested in seeing what Koana makes of all of this!

randeegaming6776: Would you look at that. Sphene talking to us makes it so much more interesting. Hell i think its cool that sphene is kind of astonished about what 7.0 sphene was doing

drenathor: Yeah after 7.1 I was telling my friends that the MSQ appeared to have taken a turn for the better and encouraged them to not abandon it quite yet. So glad to see things unfold the way they did in 7.2. Couldn’t be happier with the storyline

liftea7304: When I played through the MSQ I was so shocked how much better the writing is. Made me genuinely tear up

golvic1436: One thing I loved about the getting blasted by lightning bit, was that it seemed like they remembered “oh yeah the warrior of light is a complete badass.“ You know, instead of getting sidelined the entire time is a passive observer to the spoiled rich girl.

LivingLightningXL: The moment Sphene pleaded for our help was the moment my faith returned. Her character is amazing and the VA did outstanding. Me playing as DRK made the scene even better.

No-RE-q1w: The raids were pretty damned amazing and the story seems to finally be getting interesting (reservations aside).

Turksarama: I really do think a lot of people were too pessimistic about the future of the game. A good story does

Flawless-Walrus: I would be a hundred percent down with Sphene tagging in with us. She's picking up magic for Trust Purposes, and has been talking about how she doesn't feel in the right place among her new age citizens. They have a leader in Gulool Ja, with Shale giving guidance. And most important of all...

...

... Jorts.

Yigrish: i just have a question with the story

since calyx says " ah there it is" when he sees the crystal does this mean he is after that now instead of the cup thingy?

i liked it so far am optimistic but also seeing what the next patch brings with the story

sphene can become what wuk failed to be a character that helps u know nothing of the world so u can ask her questions and becuse of 400y of sleeping she doesnt know so the can use someweone else to fill u in.

i hope for sholar as healer and summ for dps as her positions in parties since she doesn have those looks to her

but ye msq optimistic and hopefull but seeing how big they messed up also cautious

FuyuYuki92: I also enjoyed 7.2's story, but I'm scared that this is just a one-time-thing. From what I know, patches X.1 and X.2 are always handled by different writers while X.3 is written by the X.0 scenario writer. I really like this shift in direction, having my character finally feel included again in the MSQ, just having better writing overall. I can only hope that whoever is writing X.3 is capable of doing it well, and that somehow they manage to at least fix the mess 7.0-7.1 created a little bit. We'll see. But it feels good to be positive about the story again at least for now.

stevenalvarez2924: Heres my tin foil hat theory.

Calix is going to create an Evil Metal Warrior of Light. Our version of Metal Sonic. We have teases of Beatrix being a robot clone created from memory alone. Calix is being troubled by the stats he has got so far. Ffxiv has multiple instances of "Evil Clone/Copy" being teased for the player base. If we get Metal Warrior of Light, my kid soul will yell for joy.
