axeorlay: There’s a lot of pop culture references. Music from the time it released. Game of thrones gets a lot of references. There’s a fate and a fish named “alright alright alright”

Ktjnn: Most of the pop culture references early on were added in by Koji Fox. By the time stormblood came out, he had been promoted, but his team still carries on the legacy he created with the references.

Some of the references are deep cut af. The achievement for killing Nidhogg is "Let me be your Hogg" which is an obscure Weird Al reference to a 20 second long song that he recorded for his movie UHF.

Dhalin: There's always a Cid in literally every FF game (along with Biggs and Wedge) except for FF1, and I think multiple games had an Enterprise being the airship's name.

virgilherring581: To be fair, it's more likely the Enterprise name is meant to reference the airship of the same name from older games in the series. That the name is used in Star Trek is meant to tie the show into existing American naval history as just the newest ship to use the name. There have been a half dozen or so American warships to use the name, all of which predate Trek.
