akatsuki20113: Causal isn’t synonymous with braindead.
arohk4415: What you always see is people don'T move at all to dodge a boss mechanic unless there is a big orange circle on the floor, so they don't look at telegrphs of the boss, like raising an arm and move to the other side, no , they only move when the orange circle appears under them when it is already too late.
MissyFuzz: The hivemind that are the forums spent the last 3 years complaining that EW was too easy in general just to now switch up and act like NORMAL MODE RAIDS AND DUNGEONS are impossible. Once again, proving that Square is right to just ignore them completely.
bananagher7555: People in this game are just too afraid to fail. You know how we do savage and ultimate? We fail, over and over, until we learn not to fail. That's not even the game, that's just life and learning anything. You do things wrong, learn why it was wrong, and not do the same thing. Then you do it wrong, not doing the same thing, until you do it right.
scullzomben: I'd say that the Dawntrail normal raids ARE for sure harder than Shadowbringers or Endwalker, but that is because they are now a 2/10 instead of a 1/10 difficulty.
noyou9379: The normal mode raids are way more enjoyable so far. It has a touch of old school raiding brought back. I could only imagine the people complaining about the new raids trying to do the old school raids from the 90s and early 2000s where you really didn't have warnings and there wasn't time to get out. You literally had to be on your S game cause your A game would get you killed to not only raid bosses but raid mobs
darionpoindexter7393: That one comment, "Thou must live, die, and know".
d0tsf0rlife: I'm so sick of lazy incompetent players who refuse to put any effort into the game because it breaks their headcanon immersion or they respond with "You don't pay my sub". They whine about anything they can't access or clear but refuse to put in the work.
dannyalexander6037: I love the new dungeons, they're THE BEST thing about the expansion. The first time I did the 93 dungeon my team died on the first 2 boses so I had to solo as War then on the 95 dungeon I died on the first boss. Is it more difficult, yeah but its it's more fun too and this will eventually get easier for everyone with practise, knee jerk reactions are unwarented and it just feels like the healer strike
Mr15moss: I really really really hope this is a minority, yoship pls ignore this forum post !
alexandermiller4438: I cleared EX1 with a bard that had 50% uptime on his GCDs.. Game's too hard
Kurainuz: Today i saw a guy die 8 times to the donut mechanic the 2nd boss used, after being rescued twice and with people jumping on the inside of the donut, i dont even understand it anymore.
Also a ton of healers not using the lb3 when only they are alive
I consider myself a casual, im bad at understanding mecanics, i have bad reflexes, i also have arthritis and somehow a lot of times i end up alone alive.
WindupTerminus: I think it's a bit harder mainly because some mechanics are a bit faster than in previous expansions, like the venom blobs in M2 or the 2nd part of the lariat combo in M3.
wallmandummy: wtf this has been the best normal content in a long time imo yes i had to learn a few new moves woo
holowisewolf1688: I'm Sacae, actually had a bunch more posts, but squeenix gave me a 10 day ban and deleted most of them. Big fan, i reference your thoughts on midcore in a later post.
ThottyBiscotti: My experience with people with disabilities in this game has been quite different than some of the people in these forum posts.
We have a guy in our criterion savage group that's quadriplegic (?) and cant use any of his limbs, instead plays with a chin stick. Great player, and tackles plenty of other high end content like DSR and such!
I've raided with people that play with footpedals due to arthritis, and another like that one post that had crippling anxiety if they messed up even small things or got even the tiniest bit of criticism. All of these people have cleared Savage.
I think most players regardless of ability can complete NORMAL content if they have the motivation and willingness to learn and improve, and are okay with failure. Generally the vocal minority that complains in these threads do not have any of these.
deejudanne460: theres not really a single random mechanic in the entire game though, everything scripted... love threads like these
sumatrantyler: i used to have anxiety so bad i could barely press the keys cause my hands were shaking so bad. i stuck to stuff i could manage (basically just msq roulette back when it was 8-man), i went to therapy, i started medication, then once i felt i could handle it, i started pushing myself a little more. over time it got better and better and now i've cleared multiple savage tiers, including in pf, and i've recently just cleared dsr. now, even in pf, my anxiety is super manageable and i don't even really notice it that much anymore. take the increased difficulty as an opportunity to grow and if you don't feel ready yet, then work your way up to it
Mysterious_XIV: You hear about people struggling on fights and dungeons, then you go and look at their PoV and see that they're clicking every ability, they have hotbars of emote/mounts/minions taking up 75% of their screen, and they're zoomed in on their 2b thigh glam
saeleron: as someone who was once too afraid to try hard content out of fear of not being good enough and holding others back i can understand and sympathize with those who struggle with the anxiety that comes from that even with normal raids but at the same time i've never wanted or even thought about wanting SE to make the game easier for me, if anything it made me self reflect and realize i needed to be better and just like with real life, you put time into something with the intent to learn and improve and you will indeed get gud, a lot of people frown on this saying, but the mentality is the kind you should strive to have, the world shouldnt and will never cater to you, so you just need to believe in yourself and put in the work and if you can't, then accept that its not for you and let it be, i don't know at which point in life we stop wanting to learn but trust me, you CAN do it and in the process you will make mistakes but thats ok, we all do.
Sianostrakarenrenren: "I can learn the fight."
Admits to dying 9 times
kellevichy: JP player here - we don't do savage in duty finder. We use party finder like everyone else. IDK where they're getting their info from.. everyone else i know that's seen this and is on JP is laughing at that statement ( and well.. everything else being said ).
JohnSmith-dp2jd: Some duties definitely do have tighter windows to move than older dungeons, compare Foreign Entity Removal on Antivirus X to Tentacle Dig on Ambujam for example, but for the most part it's just less obvious telegraphs. I've seen people complaining about the green goo on Herpekaris, but once they know to look for the raised leg it's just a normal left/right cleave. Instead of spelling it out on the floor you need to look at the boss and arena and read the cast bar names, and I think that's generally an improvement.
If you're struggling to learn it, pick a job you know well that has good mobility and just run it a few times while focusing on staying alive. Optimize your uptime once you know the telegraphs and how to not die instead of staring at your hotbars.
Merumya: ppl grow from challenges, as we say in germany.
when I was done playing through the MSQ (started when shb was around) I learned A LOT. I think the learning curve is quite good. slowly, over dozens of dungeons and trials you get introduced to all the mechanics, they usually start non-threatening and get more and more serious. but by the time failing one becomes a problem, youve seen them quite often and should have learned how to deal with them.
but since endwalker was way too easy, it seems lots of ppl have forgotten all they knew and now they bitch about it. challenge them again, MAKE them re-learn and everything will be fine.
Sir_Bratze: being stuck on a dungeon is wild tho. having the monitor turned off does add a layer of difficulty to it
danferrusquia2819: At the risk of sounding insensitive, what possesses someone with severe social anxiety to play an MMORPG? Unless your intention is to use online gaming as a therapeutic tool, why would you put yourself in that situation? I’ve seen multiple people complaining that the game “forces” you to interact with others and like…what were you expecting?
ch0biq: Incoming wall of text so I apologize in advance.
It is so. So. SO beyond disappointing to listen to people go "I've been playing since [x]". I haven't played MMO's in almost a decade (when 'Mechanics' didn't really even exist in the space outside of just "this boss does 1 thing"), came to play XIV a couple of months before Shadowbringers came out - dealt with healer anxiety, tank anxiety, etcetc. Why? Because I was learning
l0vesick_xo: im a quadriplegic with a spinal cord injury and i found dawntrail's dungeons, trials, & raid fine. sure there were new mechanics & "tells", but i found them pretty fun & felt accomplished after clearing. i even managed to clear ex1 & 2. my logs arent great but im trying my best.
personally i found asphodelos more challenging than the arcadian.
