Fallout 76 VATS Critical Recharge, How Much Luck Do You Need? Is 68 Luck too Much?


crazy-tommy: The numbers are actually NOT rounded up. The secret is that all weapons have a "Crit Charge Bonus", which is set to 1 in the game files for most weapons and pushes you over 100. Noteworthy here is that submachine guns are special and have a "Crit Charge Bonus" of 5, so you need less luck for submachine guns like the Elder's Mark, so you can't compare them to other weapons.
robertdavis5693: This is something I worked on for my bow build.

I have a 13 in luck, plus a full set of unyielding, plus the shielded Vault Suit. Plus the 3 star cards in both Crit damage and crit recharge. I get a crit every second shot with that combo. And the bow has a 50% critical roll alongside it's Instigating primary. For regular mobs, including 100 Super Mutants, I can one shot them.

I'm currently trying to get a bloodied bow with 50% critical damage boost (in adventure mode) to have for the big bosses.

imoutofideasfornames: I remember hearing talks about a nerf that would have caused 33 luck and crit savy to not be enough to get a critical every second shot without the 15% on the weapon. I’m glad that never happened.
AtomBalmBaby: Also, Backwoodsman 6 will buff all the cooked food, Venison with berries or SB brains will give 11 luck
evandipasquale9255: I've crafted so much secret service armor but have yet to get a single piece of unyielding. I'm level 140 and I've only had 1 piece of unyielding armor drop and it was trapper armor. RNG blows
TYRYT: I think there is diminishing returns that was added onto this formula long ago.

hro502: Elders mark has secret effect like other submachine gun, with 15 crit fill third star effect, you only need 20 luck instead of 23/24.

Without critfill its 30 luck instead of 33
SirRoderickThunderbottom: i remember there was an inside the vault discussing the calculations after there was a community backlash when they tried to patch having a crit every 2nd shot with 33 luck and crit savvy 3.
If i recall at some point the Luck multiplier drops from 1.5x to just 1x which is why the calculations were off when experimenting with high luck.
