Is this the end for The Elder Scrolls Online?

HouseTre007: They don’t have the talent to flip this game around, it’ll just keep falling off tbh. ESO has been on the downswing for a long time (don’t let their misleading metrics fool you).

irishsage2459: What everyone misses in the dev letter...and it's certifiably INSANE.

"You MAY see some of these changes as TESTS in 2025. "

Or, you may not, and get absolutely nothing. He never said any of these changes would absolutely happen, but I'm guessing if they do, you'll absolutely need to pay for it with crowns.

Im out of this sucker game, and never looking back.

samuraichicken2315: ESO is heading into maintenance mode. There is probably a couple of dungeons and a trial already done so they'll probably package that into the seasons at an inflated price.

nuglifer: Whenever MMO's start saying shit like "bite sized!" it's over. This is the anti-bite size genre. This is the "consume my time and invest me long term genre." Once you give up on that, you don't have a real MMORPG anymore. You have a revolving door of bored people checking it out for a few minutes then moving on.

toxictripp: First, update 35. Second, how they treated Nefas. Zenimax can burn.

jediwelder1: So, when they decide to NERF my hard earned gear once again, I’ll take another vacation….

Lordoftherobe: Oh great so now eso is going to do warbonds instead of big updates.

Essentially they want you to pay more and get less for it

KyoMobius: I was not a casual eso player (finally quit last year after golden road) and something a casual can't see if that the main population of the game has been leaving since 2018-2019. Not fixing issues that have been ignore on purpose and the CM being less of a CM and more a Product sales person, affected their retention power of eso, which was never good to begin with. That's why they cater to the casuals to survive instead of fixing and improving their game. And that have promise year after years they will do and now everyone I used to played with and again (pvp) have all left.

Your note on the worker could be a factor but not the cause. Also they will probably bring some seasonal pass or whatnot and their casino call crown crate. Check NefasQs video (last one about eso) will give some context of what a non casual player of eso lived through and more.

PowerfulRift: Here’s a start, how about they completely restore the old Cold Harbour Intro and Cinematics that we paid for?

dym0niter414: I played ESO for a while, but what drove me away, honestly, was simply the fact that it's a tipple-A studio. over the last few years, triple-A studio's have done nothing but make the games they work on worse, and I don't want to invest time into something that could enshittify any moment, when there are other games that i know won't have that issue (terraria, BG3, etc.)

lt.danicecream: Beginning of the end

shinobi197: The big content patches were the thing bringing people back every year.

Unless they keep it up veteran players will have nothing to do and leave.

huantruonginh2946: I really want to care about this but uh…Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim plus a shit ton of mods told me not to.

nerdbomber: NefasQS just dropped a banger a few days ago

pgbollwerk: Good for the workers forming a union. Too many companies treat their employees like crap.

TheMADGOD91: Firstly, I've played since beta. I used to love this game to bits. I took a quick break before morrowind (vet14) and came back just before or at summerset (cp160). I've played ever since. I'm not a sweaty hard-core day 1 hm raider/ clearer or min-max pvp'er but I have dabbled in everything at one point or another. I've played the game in prog raid groups, conquered some hm raids. I've had half a dozen or more little groups of 3 other friends over the years who played dungeons both just vet and vet hm prog groups and I've had the time of my life playing. I've played in massive pvp guilds and smaller ones too. I've jumped factions a few times made new friends (and enemies). I've even tried my hand at being a high ranking guild trader with tons of gold. But sadly...

I've made the decision now 2025 (more like late 2024) to leave the game. ESO just brakes my heart. It's like a partner that's just not right for you. You see it's problems you know how to fix them, you tell them how to fix them... they know how to fix them... but they just don't. They don't listen. Anyone who gets anyway critical in anyway gets shunned. The signs that the game has escaped them were there for years. Every little thing zos did diluted the game. Diluted every single mmo aspect of the game. No class identity, no variations except colours of abilities. No overworld difficulty. Nothing that brings gamers back. Nothing special to work for. Only purchasable stuff. It's shameful.

They really did have something special. But they've catered to the casuals the "skyrim" players who only show up to play the story and then leave. Unfortunately, that's where their money is. Short term in small bursts. If they cared about the fans who wanted more than skyrim online, and they had plenty, they'd have done things way different. The game could've lasted as long as wow. Now though, all their original players, all their actual mmo players have left or are leaving. This means no fun content creators, no way to spread the word. They've doomed the game because as soon as the big story content dries up or as soon as the next elder scrolls game or maybe even fallout game or hell, even big game like gta 6 comes out all their skyrim online casual players will leave too... and not come back. They've doomed themselves. The players who would've stayed, would've come back have been pushed out.

I don't wish them well. I thank them for the time I've had but, sadly they are gone to a place I do not condone or do not wish to follow.

beckthetech5662: I think everything will be fine I wish people would stop tripping out saying it’s going into maintenance mode and what not. It could be good for the game I’m just curious how pricing will work. I hope I don’t need to pay lots of money for the “seasons” and then also eso plus. It would be nice if eso plus included all the seasonal content for the 15 a month. I’m not spending more the 15 a month on this game I’m over spending so much money on games. That’s my only negative feeling toward it.

ebrano: Huge profits in companies often flow to the top with workers ironically getting squeezed for pay and harder work. This would explain the unionization to me. Tamriel is quite large and having quality improvements to the game superseding expansions, that people often complain about, and that sometimes feel a bit forced, might be a very good idea. Zos did not say they would never release new zones, perhaps just less often, giving them more time to deal with game that currently exists. The recent partnership with content creators speaks to the possibility of meaningful upgrades to Tamriel.

GoatedSynro: I will never forget the memeroies of playing the morrowind expansion on this a few years back.

yariskills: I think we will have to see what they do in 2025 to really try and predict a direction.

pinoblack1136: Did someone say... Maintenance mode?

PhillinRoyal: They need a huge change to the Crown store. New and casual players arent gonna pay most of those ridiculous prices. I came back from a hiatus and im reluctant to spend money. It’s sooo overpriced.

rhettdean4641: I have been playing since the beginning. I am almost exclusively solo, haven't done too much of the multiplayer. I bought every dlc except for group dungeons. I play everyday. 7 characters with completion of every faction zone and dlc zones. I have played through all kinds of changes. PLEASE STOP CHANGING IT!!!

Gaming_Media00: Yeah I honestly don't give a shit about this game. I will never understand how people play this game. The overland content has awesome quest design and voiced npc's but its worthless because its so mind numbingly easy that I was able to play naked and with no weapon and my health would like never go down. Thats not a game guys. I'm not saying the difficulty should be like dark souls, but guys never having your health bar going down or magic and theres no cooldown of basic abilities! This makes playin the overland content useless. And overland is like 80% of the game

mwfancyson7296: This game has gradually transitioned into casual overland circus for pensioners into being a pensioner itself living off said pensioners.

conradgood: I've been a fan and player of TESO for 10 years and loved it's evolution. Not liking what I'm hearing going forward.

tedcruzwiththetopdown5411: I quit when they thought it was a good idea to hire reddit mods.

I got a 3 day suspension for having a character named Chuck Norris Bowflex Body.

Never bite the hand that feeds you.
