I will say though... Elder Scrolls Online has been woke on-and-off for years now. 2018's Summerset was basically a narrative about the benefits of open borders and had a whole quest chain about a transgender actor. 2021's Blackwood expansion decided that all tentacle-based demons are they/thems and poured neo-pronouns all over the players. 2022's High Isle had a Karen-druid declare a nature spirit to be a they/them, and then made you fight an evil druid woman who wanted to be the next Druid King (same year as the film Woman King, incidentally). Spent most of the main quest helping Frii (said nature spirit) and trying to interpret sentences like "They need our help to reach them before they can be used by them to gain their power and ascend to the Druid Kingship."

Oh, and 2022's High Isle also included Isobel, a companion who openly lusts after her stepsister and is desperate to hook up with every strong female character in the game. Skeeved me out, truth be told.

So yeah, this isn't new. It's certainly more in your face and extremely cringy than anything before (save that god-awful Frii character), but nothing new.

Edit addition: I think this game has a two to three year lag between when a concept is conceived and when it actually enters the game, so I imagine they came up with this at the same time that Sony was drooling over Concord, the EU was drooling over Dustborn, and SBI was seen as the go-to consultants for "improving" your script. Going to be a few more years before the realization that this garbage doesn't sell flows through Zenimax Online Studio's pipeline. I think that holds true for the industry as a whole, too. Going to be more Concord-like failures and miseries before the end.

Why are established video games alienating their remaining customers? Who do they hope to DRAG into their game? The audience they are fishing for does not buy games.
RuneScape recently removed genders. Why? Who asked for that? My character in the fictional world is a man, I WANT to play as a man (and sometimes a woman if the quest requires it) and now I can't. I won't come back to the game just because they made my fantasy game less immersive and less inclusive for me.
Speaking of that quest that requires you to be female, it's that trope of "no MAN can pass" so you change to a woman, I assume they just deleted that part of a classic quest? Or... Did they change it to only "a female presenting human must pass" haha

lukedawg2787: Like anyone is actually shocked by this. This only means that Elder Scrolls 6 is going to have rainbow dragons that don’t attack anyone and everyone in the game will be pronouns, and you won’t be able to romance the opposite sex.

Calling it now Elder Scrolls 6 is going to be woke AF and they are going to try and hide it from you by making you think it isn’t then a month before release you’ll see the game play but by then your money already cleared the bank.
