Why People Are Quitting Elden Ring DLC

silenthilll_: I dont understand why everyone is trying to complete the game as fast as possible, rather than learning

FreePigeon: > Make game for casuals

> Make DLC for hardcore

> Casuals stop playing

Pikachu.jpeg

Cptn.Smoker: People mad they can’t just walk through the game.

animeisgreat2564: People are just mad they can't one shot the bosses anymore Lol

12371eric: People don't understand how important the blessings are. More so than levels.

echnew9258: This is one of the main downsides to becoming a content creator, never being able to play games just for fun. Always having to put on a show, be entertaining via skill or personality and not just having fun.

ssskr01: Why do I feel like people came into this dlc with the expectation that they were going to steamroll everything.

Thadon36: If people are this mad, from software did their job.

FishAnvil: The DLC has a brand new leveling system. People are trying to speed through SOTET with a max level character not stopping to learn that they actually have to level up a secondary system.

Zguilvozh: Fun fact: there is a hidden boss in every souls game. The camera.

apophisstr6719: While co-oping, I’ve been noticing how 90% of the people who summoned me are either full mage that dies in one hit, or dual wielding heavy weapon and only use jumping R2.

Then as soon as there’s an enemy that could poise through their attack they simply just die.

carlucioleite: Asmongold unfortunately ignored the leveling mechanic and was pretty much doing a boss rush. People don't like hearing, but every game has a right way to play it.

BlackViod: jumped off a cliff to escape an enemy and landing in a boss arena is actually terrifying.

paopao.: when elden ring was "too easy" people complained.

so they released a dlc that was harder and they still complained

SilentRyd: Its crazy most people are ignoring the new "level up" system in the dlc. You need to explore and find the Scadutree Fragments. It essentially boosts your character for the dlc area. It boosts your damage and defense. Otherwise you are essentially playing the dlc with a constant debuff. Soul level does not matter in the dlc until you level up your blessing.

vidtothejonas: Erdtree is now literally the Dark Souls of Elden Ring

samderry6305: So instead of inviting randos and having fun killing a boss with help, or just learning how to play the game, people would rather be stubborn and give up?

Bombay.Badboy: Funniest part is when you see streamers going full meta, like they just cannot fathom not looking up guides and using the absolute best items

blooire: one guy summed it up pretty good in his steam review

"Too hard?

Discard your useless pride, summon mimic bro."

Rob-Davidson: What's even worse is how it had thousands of overwhelming reviews all with 10 minutes playtime.

justlivin2499: “I forget not everyone is able to appreciate art as I do.” - Grand Admiral Thrawn

faust5946: I think one of the big differences between him not enjoying the game and me loving it is the fact that I will play the game for 1-2 hours at a time and if I get frustrated I'll go do something else like practice music or take my dog for a walk but he is stuck there and will play for many hours while he is tilted and the frustration will just keep compounding.

goofygoober9719: The strategically placed assholes were a staple since Demon's Souls

morbincentral3607: Why quit when you can just go out an explore and get stronger? Nobody is forcing you to beat the boss boss bro.

Klez13: This situation is the same as when Asmon ignored all the mechanics and texts in Monster Hunter World, complains about the game and says he has a problem but refuses to understand how the basic system works because of "ego" or "laziness"...

Pandamonium626: So, he doesn't want to spend a bunch of time beating his head against hard bosses but he also doesn't want to do the mechanics that make the bosses easier? And he doesn't want to change his build? I don't get it. He says this is one of the best games ever made and yet he refuses to play a huge chunk of it. Makes no sense to me.

GrantTodd-eh7ub: Quantum TV making thousands of steam accounts be like:

beowoof1907: This title is misleading, it's a video about Why Asmon is quitting gaming on stream

JozieKS: Lol, it took me a year to beat Elden Ring I’m bracing myself for half a year at least for the dlc

thewitness829: I’m loving this DLC - i’m a relatively new player, just beat the game last month. I’m around level 240 and still getting 2 hit by certain enemies. I can appreciate that i’m not walking through something i paid 40 dollars for. I’m happy there’s plenty of content to explore and i’m going to take my time and explore every nook and cranny.

Edit: Wasn’t expecting people to reply so much already but just want to say i’m aware 240 isn’t necessary. I just enjoy playing the game so after I beat NG I helped a ton of people beat bosses so i’ve just leveled up over time.

zigmus00A: The greatest trick fromsoft pulled was making people believe the Lion Dancer was a "first boss" when this is just the Tree Sentinel all over again. "Fuck you, come back later"

twassell25: Its simple dude, if it causes you as much anxiety as you say, and you dislike doing it as much as you say, then just dont do it? Its not that big of a deal. Anyone who tells you what they think you need to do can fuck right off.

toomass2668: The fact of the matter is this. Entering into DLC the first time feels exactly the same as entering into base game for the first time. No, you cannot just go and one shot bosses or even one shot random mobs. People got spoiled during main game ending because for me, the main game got easier and easier due to LVLing and itemization. Now people think that they can just go into DLC the say way where they left off. I for example spent 55 minutes trying to kill the Blackgoal Knight. Not one time i got frustrated because I understood that this is how the DLC was meant to be. DLC map is fantastically complex. So is the castles and the enemies you encounter. New leveling system feels rewarding. A lot of the times I spend 2 hours just wandering around, discovering things etc. I think it is very well done DLC.

MrHydra12: the lore tells you to go pickup and infuse yourself with the flesh of a god to become essentially an empyrean in stats and the intro literally makes this point painfully obvious

Robian_: Elden ring is all about choosing your own difficulty. If it's too hard you can rune farm to level up, use summons, create better builds, and now u can get blessings.

defaultname0: Devs stated that its a game that rewards exploration. DLC have a mechanics where the more scadutree fragments you find the less damage mobs do to you and you deal more damage to them. People complain they are getting 2 shot while not using this mechanic is kinda wild honestly. Trying to rush the DLC and complain is kinda stupid tbh.

enzi_official: If you think that you're above average and too stressed to learn a fight, then who tf do you want to impress with no summons?

AC-ov5ny: It feels like they’ve made a base game that a more casual audience can play, but then gone and made a dlc that is clearly meant for veterans.

bastianrhone9390: The dlc incurages the same type of progression the main game dose

Step 1, look for area boss.

Step 2, either win or lose

Step 3, if you lose explore the map for scattered fragments

Step 4, try again

themomaw: Players buy a game by a developer that is notorious for making games difficult to the point of being unfair in a genre that is DEFINED by the concept of killing the player over and over to force them to learn or give up. Players are surprised by the unfair difficulty and constant dying.

Dovahkiin106: Reminds me of what happened with the Bloodborne Old Hunters dlc. Tons of people refunded because they couldn’t beat Ludwig. People buying a dlc for a hard game and not expecting it to be hard is baffling to me.

MikedieONE: I think many people dont realize HOW IMPORTANT it is to find these Scadutree Fragmen to upgrade your blessing!

If you have issues with difficulties.. THESE should be your main goal. NOT the usual leveling.

1 blessing upgrade gives you 5% on your def/atk of your lvl stat. if you have lets say lvl5 of the blessing, its around 25% on your stats.

For example lets say your weapon normaly would do 700atk then its already 875. thats a HUGE jump! same with defence.

I also realized that the usual "bonk builds" are kinda not so good for the dlc. its way more important to work with elemental stuff like Frostbite/bleed/wind/fire weapons.

it will make your playthrough way easier.

liketobecalled: Refuses to use summons, magic, buffs and 90% of the tools the game gives him, has a shit build, doesn't explore to get better tools and gear, plays the game like it's a boss rush, tries to bruteforce every boss doing the exact over and over again till he crutches a win, puts the blame on the bosses and devs for making the game "too hard" for this very particular playstile he deliberately chooses to play, he's essentially playing tennis with a ping pong racket because he wants to and complaining is too hard because of his own self imposed rules

Desinteresad0: FS is assuming you already finished ER. So they assume you are prepared for the extra spice.

olsenarliawan2951: Needing to use skill to survive makes him feel like a bot but spamming jump attacks doesn't? What?

rank1132: Having a blast with the DLC. Fromsoft please dont nerf anything.

d0ppler32: New Elden Ring dlc got asmon pondering his life choices

Woxvu: Why is everyone glossing over the fact that you can just go look for fragments to make the game easier?

If you get most of them, the DLC becomes much more manageable.

Just like in base game, you choose your difficulty.

crazedmonk8u: I'm waiting for the "LetMeSoloHer" guy to make a "LetMeSoloHim" to help people beat Messmer lol

tomasskala4405: Reads less than 1/5 of each paragraph

Mement0o: "Im good at planning and strategy and bad at quick reactions" But he hates turn based games and plays elden ring. Then he thinks he is bad at games in general...hmmm

TheRockemsockm: People were not going to use blessings to scale up and ragequit. I knew the second they announced it, there would be the ER launch difficulty controversy all over again.

MarcTrudeau: In every From Software dlcs, it's always harder than the base game ,and it should be expected that way. Elden Ring is not supposed to be a cake walk anyways.

AntwonDaBusiness: Can’t wait to see lvl 1 no hit dlc runs hahaha

DefinitivelyZach: This turned into therapy half way thru and Asmon not following his own advice about content creators talking about their feelings. But it was nice to see that human side of him weirdly.

Kredorish: Elden Ring DLC causing Asmon to through mental crises. Damn, this was def worth $40

cybronichuman: I think this DLC was aimed to put all builds into question and sort of force you to start utilizing various mechanics that people were not using before in the original game. Before that DLC I barely utilized shields and vow of the indomitable, now it feels like my bread and butter for survival. I think the fact they put an extra upgrade for the power of spirit ashes and the amount of great ghost gloveworts u can find was also telling, as if they told you "you can either suffer till despair or use the god damn summons to make it more playable cuz we deliberately made the game very challenging". From the devs perspective it's probably also annoying that they put their time and effort to make such a vast amount of items and mechanics and some people are sticking just to one weapon and play style for the rest of the game and call it a day

ReveredWizardBob: Exploration gets you shards, shard make the DLC easier. You get rewarded for exploring an open world. Shocker that one. Yet they don't want to do that and then complain the game is hard. Not to mention mimic and bleed being more broken than ever.

OfficialNeonScratch: Ain't gonna sugar coat it... Lions Claw Ash of War.

Rubycore: This is why I stopped playing competitive games and shooters like COD. I just get in my own head way too easily and I rage and stress out instantly.

YP831: IMO people are NOT READING, those scuda seed things are EXTREMELY important your level is jack shit in the DLC the amount of blessings you have is very important.

antoniokaram3420: Complaining about a game's difficulty when you aren't playing it the way you're supposed to is crazy

DanteAidos: Asmond had the weakest mental, with the worst attitude, worst bad habbits of anyone, and he doesn't do anything to better himself

DWilliams-sf5th: As someone who has my own battles with anxiety, I know the frustration of disclosing anxiety issues to others. "Just don't think about it" is my favorite suggestions. Wow, I can just stop thinking thoughts that I'm aware are bs? For me the only thing that helps, sometimes, is going for a walk. Life doesn't always allow that. I don't like who I am, or how feel on anxiety meds. I do think you do need to figure out whatever you got a do to be able to take a break though. My mother worked herself to death because she had people depending on her. I and my siblings, while appreciated everything she did, we would have preferred to do with less, and had her more. Thank you for being vulnerable, and sharing that part of you with us.

lone4596: People talking about how hard it is, meanwhile I am experiencing peak suffering on a very high NG . Frost procs are your best friend.

whiskeysour1179: Whatever the fuck this DLC contains...

All I need is my claymore.

maksimmikheev5896: I like how instead of checking more reviews Asmon started his revelation and opening up about his feelings

talkingmudcrab718: Damn. Its tough to see Zach broken by this DLC. At least he's self-aware and man enough to admit his faults. He needs to take a break and play Skyrim Super Special Skibidi Edition.

salikali2: If people rely on you so much you can't take a break, they are the problem. Everyone needs a certain level of self-reliance because no one will always be there for you. If anyone is relying on to the degree you feel so unhappy from anxiety then it will never be resolved unless you make the choice.

peterpanzki07: The part about having to perform a perfect choreography of a fight is exactly what makes these kinds of fights so much fun for me. That's why Sekiro was so good too. And that's what Elden Ring has been about all the time. The problem is that there are so many ways to easy your experience in the main game. That's also why I think Sekiro was harder, even if it felt easier in the end. In Sekiro you simply had to learn the boss period. You knew there is only one way to do it - the hard one. In Elden Ring, on the other hand, its like "Oh no i am having so much trouble." so you respec to an op build you found online, use some op ass weapon or summon, call your friends to help you or other shit like that. Anything to avoid having to learn.

And now you enter the DLC and suddenly you stand before a boss that you are simply not prepared for ...

I have seen people struggle so hard to get a hit out on the first boss, while it has so many openings for attacks. Its ridiculous.

Andifreakster: Dude cheesed the whole base game with op halbred weapons, 2 years later all op weapons got balanced, thats the true issue

I_justlivethedream: I love this DLC. Nothing is better than getting my a$$ kicked and then i rise above and succeed. Its perfect.

b44dsss: title correction: asmon quits the game because of mental instability while playing video games.

rolotalks: Being bad or mediocre or really good at a video game has absolutely no bearing on your measure as a person.

Ladydakness: The take away from this is: People are mad they cant steamroll the DLC at low levels. Im personally thrilled with this DLC. I just got it, i have a max level character on NG 7, and im getting 1 to 2 shot by some enemies, and i love the struggle and the need to LEARN and GIT GUD yet again. People are clearly not reading the pop uptips about blessings either and how levels here mean almost nothing without blessings.

vans1271: The one thing Miyazaki taught me was to check my corner. lol.
