DecadiusVolco: You can literally find out what they take from you by getting your w-2s from your workplace and you can have it printed out at any moment as long as you've been on payroll for several months. You also when you sign up for payroll and you have to make out your W-2 paperwork so they can give it to you at the start of the next year, they literally have all the information about how much they take from you depending on what you select. So yeah she's wrong

DecadiusVolco: The only way any of this is actually true is if you are running a business or being a contractor.. if you're working for a business and you get W-2 or W-3 you don't have to pay anything unless you made a mess up in the previous year by not filing. Also you can use your home, gas, water, and store items specifically bought for the job you have (counts as bonus state tax). Keeping your receipts can add to how much you get back.
