ThreadedNail: I started backstepping accidentally at first and just stuck with it. Its a good dodge to use rather than rolling on some enemies.

yaboyacro: Tbh I wish backstepping had i-frames by default. Having to take 45% more damage just for i-frames on back stepping is insane. Its a shame too because like you said, it has a lot of situations where its very optimal to back step IF you have i-frames.

ShadowNemesis575: I practically never use backsteps seriously in pve but watching Chasethebro run at someone, hit a 180, backstep, backstep attack and see the sheer amount of style and skill expression that can come from using weapons and skills unconventionally I could never look at combat in this game the same way. Now it's my mission to fight and beat bosses and invaders in the dumbest way possible, and I have hundreds more hours of fun left in this game. Seriously if a boss or enemy encounter is kicking your butt, try something goofy. You'd be surprised at how often you'll stumble into a solution you didn't expect for a problem.

acetrainer5564: Backstepping is just unreliable, since you cant have any input on the control stick. Any at ALL, you've really got to let the control stick rest to do it. So often you try to backstep and just roll in an odd direction and die from that, it's not worth attempting.
