greathorn: To clarify the “Consort” terminology, in real life it’s a marriage thing but in Elden Ring it’s kind of a catch-all for “partner”, and it seems to be a requisite for godhood, or at least ushering in a new era of history. Every time a Consort is taken by Marika it’s with a specific purpose in mind (Godfrey to defeat the Erdtree naysayers/Fire Giants, Radagon to establish a solid Golden Order religion), and Ranni takes us as Consort in her Age of Stars ending.

Miquella admired Radahn for being both strong AND kind, and thus made him promise to join him when he made his attempt at godhood, which Radahn initially agreed to (most likely under Miquella’s manipulation). Radahn later halted the movement of the stars in order to pause fate and prevent this from coming to pass, which prompted Miquella to send Malenia to kill him, so that Miquella could fully control his soul and FORCE him to join.

But of course she failed in this, and had to settle for nuking an entire landmass and waiting for him to die on his own (which only comes to pass when Jerren starts the Festival to grant him an honorable death)
