Darfail: Ah yes today's nap time will be of high quality.
EDIT: Thanks for the likes people, I deserve them. Also nap time was great as expected.
CassielSardavic: I always thought that big jump to get to Trina's resting place was a visual allegory of the concept of "Falling to Sleep"
grayhat_9x: Miss Chalice has St. Trinas powers
NarushiMoka: Personally, I don't think Trina is talking explicitly about Miquella's evil intentions. When we listen to Ymir in his questline, he talks about Miquella a lot, saying: "Ever-young Miquella saw things for what they were. He knew that his bloodline was tainted. His roots mired in madness. A tragedy if ever there was one. That he would feel compelled to renounce everything. When the blame... Lay squarely with the mother." And it's not the first hint; there are more hints about Miquella feeling the blame for other people's sins. This is, in my eyes, why Trina is talking about stopping him and granting him forgiveness, for he bears the blame that's not his. There are countless hints about Miquella not wanting to be a god but feeling like he has to become one to make the world a better place. She wants to protect him – this is implied in Leda's words as well, as she says "St. Trina's love for Kind Miquella is boundless. She is, after all, his other half. Or perhaps her feelings go beyond even that. Even if she was left behind, I doubt her heart would waver."
He wanted to atone for the sins he never committed and fix the problems in their world so that all these abandoned creatures could have a home, Godwyn could have a true death, and Malenia could be cured. Trina was a bit more selfish with her unconditional love, she wanted to free him from the pain, and the sins of their mother.
But that, of course, doesn't mean he never committed any sins. Most of the characters are morally gray in my opinion.
ripxdoc: i absolutely LOVE what you do Miss Chalice! Thank you soooooo much for everything. Your voice is THE best
Alex-ef7mu: I always interpreted Theollier and st. Trina as a metaphoric representation of addiction, specifically to substances.
Theollier is so obsessed with the narcotic power of the nectar that he would travel down a forgotten abyss of graves just to ‘get high’ one more time.
He’s incredibly self conscious and insecure, detailing how a mind plagued by addiction warps self perception, chaining the person to an existence of pain and self doubt.
He is a tragic character who thinks poorly of himself, blinded by a substance that helps him escape his own thoughts by numbing and letting him drift away in a very heroin-like manner.
This questline is beautifully written and incredibly sad.
ShadowProject01: I figured out the dying 4 times completely by accident. I found it absolutely hilarious how you keel over when you drink the nectar. I was trying to screen capture it and kept doing it to get a good angle. Imagine my surprise when she finally spoke that 4th time
spenceerious: One interesting thing about St. Trina is that, although cut content and not technically canon, she would sing lullabies to the nomadic merchants to soothe their frenzy.
Interestingly, the icon for Madness is an open eye, and for sleep, the eye is closed.
peach_gurl: Saint Trina’s design is art and such a delight to find.
Mario-SunshineGalaxy64: It’s often been stated that because Miquella abandoned his love/St. Trina his Age of Compassion is doomed to fail because it’s argued that one cannot feel compassion without love, but that’s not a definite truth. Assuming Miquella didn’t gain a new sense of love when he ascended, having a sense of love is not strictly necessary to feel compassion, even if the two are closely related. Compassion is the ability to recognize the suffering of others and feel motivated to help alleviate it. Love, in various forms (familial love, romantic love, or love for humanity) can deepen and strengthen the experience of compassion, making it more personal and profound.
However, compassion can also arise from empathy, a sense of shared humanity, or a moral or ethical commitment, independent of a specific feeling of love. For example, a person might feel compassion for a stranger in distress even if they don't feel love for them. This compassion could be driven by empathy, a desire to help others, or an understanding of suffering, rather than a direct sense of love. So, while love can enhance compassion, it is not an absolute requirement for it, and in some cases it can be a detriment.
Love can sometimes be a hinderance to compassion because it can create bias or partiality. When love is involved, people run the risk of prioritizing the wellbeing of those they love over others who may be equally or more in need of compassion. This selective compassion can lead to favoritism and makes it harder to maintain an impartial, broader sense of care for all people. Additionally, intense love can sometimes cloud judgment, causing a person to overlook the bigger picture in their efforts to help someone close to them, potentially leading to unwise or harmful actions and decisions. This is probably the reason why Miquella cast aside his love, so he can ensure he’d love and embrace everyone equally and avoid favoring some above others.
dadman3992: Thiollier's story is one of the sweetest in the game. In the end, even though he isn't St Trina's chosen one, he'll still help to grant her final wish because he loves her. Bless the little chap. Also when he said "I'm as weak as a kitten and thick as two planks" I'm sure many of us were excited to finally see ourselves represented in the game
Zekron88: Let's go! Always down for some lore!
Rowan.Evander: As someone with a disability that leaves me with weakness, pain, chronic fatigue, Thiollier is the RA autoimmune rep we needed. His arc is so beautifully sad.
mohgceoofblood8235: As an insomniac i understand why Tholier wanted to recapture this sleep Trina Granted him, it was only one dream but the feeling of well rest is something to remember
PeteQuaint: I think Thiollier had developed an immunity for poison to the point that his and Trina’s eternal sleep nectar wouldn’t kill him outright. Which is extremely impressive, and tragic since that’s probably how he couldn’t hear her
DanTheReaperMann: It's now 4am and as soon as I am about to go to bed I see Miss Chalice post 3 minutes ago.
Guess I'm not sleeping. (Ironic given the video)
Guhproductions-sd5yn: Shoutout to how John ‘boyfailure’ thiollier tries to murder you after you fall asleep first. He truly is the sleepover of all time
TheGreatMilksteak: Thanks for dispensing a sip of nectar lore for all us tholliers out here
IveBeenBafl: Discovered your channel from your Witcher 3 vids, glad to see the channel continuing to blow up! Keep up the awesome work
