zjsz4954: The internet as a whole is mentally disabled
bigdojacoom8999: Asmongold is known for only two things; being a professional opinion haver and a habitual shower dodger.
jakehoyt497: having a 2 year old is the darksouls of parenthood.
DecimeCuba: Elden ring? Drama? That shit aint go together
pieroescobar748: This whole drama is so stupid i feel like i wasted my time
thehunterjk2521: Quantum TV is being strangely quiet about it.
Jusn417: The only Elden ring drama I’ve ever had was being bashed by the elden beast
_Just_John: Elden Ring releases, people go straight to Margit: "This game is too difficult."
Elden Ring DLC releases, people go straight to Dancing Lion: "This DLC is too difficult."
I think people have permanent mental disability. It is an open world game for a reason. The new items tab should help people to see what they picked up. But it only proves people don't pay attention to items they collect. When I picked up the first Scadutree Fragment it was clear as day this makes the DLC easier. But I died more times to frame drops than to anything else.
andresbogado7133: Asmongold seems to have a consistent pattern of knowing nothing about anything but having a confident opinion about everything.
HeatherHolt: As a mom and a regular Bloodborne player no pause button is just the game telling me to not stop and keep torturing myself.
Fr tho when you have a toddler sometimes you just have to put it down and if you die well you die, kids are more important than a game.
Even Bloodborne.
Spaceman_u: Twitter taking "situational disability" as literal disability might be the new low of stupidity
TallicaMan1986: As a child one time. Yes, I was a disability
mrgrunkyeggdog806: I get her point and that she is technically correct but I would never use the phrase dissability when talking about spending time with my children lmao
AdsaAdad: Calling a pause menu "entitlement" in a 21st century game is wild
CodenameDoubleL7: I'm financially disabled, please give me money to relieve my disability.
IRSPaymentDue7: My mom called me for dinner while playing Elden Ring, guess my mom is a disability.
doclouis4236: Sounds to me like people are overusing the word "disability"
MrHastygamer: My cat jumping onto the desk in front of my monitor, that’s a disability.
undertaker150000: Elden Ring devs should make a pause button update, but instead of stopping the game. It stops it by just fucking killing you.
DawnOfTheOzz: This isn't your normal everyday internet brainrot. This is... advanced
mr.melancholy4973: Taking care of your kid isn't a "situational disability" it's responsibility.
death12555: I don't find the argument bad but situational disabilities is the stupidest terminology created, call it for what it is: an annoyance/a hindrance/real life shit you gotta deal with.
Because in that context me needing to take a piss whilst dealing with the second phase of malenia is also a disability.
SeeJay804: I struggled to understand how this "drama" became worthy of anyone's attention, then I read some of the comments here and realized it's just for stupid people to argue over lol.
ToshaDCary: It is truly impossible to have logical conversations with people anymore.
prele: I cannot enjoy beating a game when I know there's a Redditor out there disagreeing with my method of beating it.
FallingPicturesProductions: I don't know who's more annoying. People who give every soulsbourne the grapefruit technique in the face of everyone else, or the people that constantly bitch about a game being notoriously hard being hard.
JoziWOW: "Why would i laugh at that?" Tragedy is Comedy
Taierisu: Miyazaki be like: Life doesn't have a pause button, so neither shall you!
takubear88: Elden Ring is such a poor example of this too, because as you mentioned quitting out to the main menu takes 5 seconds and you lose NOTHING. There are checkpoints everywhere, legacy dungeons are very short to run through or have shortcuts etc. You lose absolutely nothing from restarting.
ALARMcIock: "Situational disability" is just corpo PR speak for "inability". I'm not surprised it came from Microsoft sensitivity training manual.
F.Y.M.B: As someone who has two children, I gotta be honest. I don’t really have time to play many video games, but if I really want to, I will wake up early before everyone gets up and get in at least a couple of hours of playing it, children are only disability if you don’t plan enough
PatriciaMilligan-g8j: Honestly if I ever wanted to pause a souls game, I simply just go to the bonfire and rest there. Since no enemies will ever attack you while you’re resting.
igorlukyan206: My 1.5 yr old daughter absolutely loves watching me play Elden ring, especially when going through dungeons. She loves it when I get jumped by gargoyles
Jacob-ce7nh: Me when I can’t play Elden ring while I’m driving with one arm whilst carrying my baby who has a heavy accent after a long night of drinking in a loud bar
vroitwyrd: I had never heard the term "situational disability" before. As someone with a "permanent occupational disability" my first impression was I am not overly fond of it. I suppose it stems from a sense of minimizing the struggles of people with severe conditions, or serious impairment; a class of individuals that already lack adequate representation. Couldn't find any evidence that the term is used clinically in any capacity, but mainly as a social construct by people that coopted the word from its original application.
karlynhallum: I didn't know you could wear the stanley cup on your head in Elden Ring. I learned something today.
feircy: Disability is just a poor word choice, instead of saying "situational disability" and "accessibility options" if she had just said "I would appreciate a pause because sometimes I have to stop my kid from electrocuting himself", I don't think any reasonable person would have an issue with it
RattlesnakeTequila: calling a responsibility a disability is wild.
BenMalleck: Dude was making videos every day for a week with one of his ears blocked. True heroes exist.
raibee2478: As a health researcher who majored in physiotherapy, I'd like to share a few things.
There exists a medical term for what they are describing as 'temporary disability' which is 'impairment'. We are taught caution when using the term 'Disability'.
People may get temporary injuries. People may catch the flu. In either case, they are impaired but not disabled.
normalguy144: I have a situational disability because I have dogs, and I have to throw toys for them while fighting bosses in Elden Ring.
I actually don't really care that you can't pause in Elden Ring. However, a pause menu would probably improve quality of life in game.
MDK2k: If you look at accesibility features for color blindness it becomes even more obvious that accesibility doesn't always mean the game becomes easier. The goal of a colorblind mode is to bridge the gap between the colorblind person and a normal player. That colodblind mode won't make the game easier for a person with normal vision. It's just there to make sure that the colorblind person has the same difficulty as people with normal vision. In action rpg:s you often have red warning signs projected on to the ground to tell the player where an attack is going to hit. The purpouse of the sign is to very clearly show players where not to stand. However if you are projecting a red warning signs on green grass, it can be incredibly hard for red/green colorblind people to see them if the brightness of the 2 colors is similar. So it would go against the design of the game if some people are not able to notice the thing the developer wants them to see as clearly as possible.
Reynaldo-Pequeno: I believe that many people (myself included) have a negative knee jerk reaction to privileged people in first world countries catastrophizing language.
They use words like trauma, oppression, and disability to describe mild inconveniences.
kccts44: The problem with using "disability" in this context is it trivializes people with serious disabilities. PTSD for example used to be reserved for veterans who have seen their brothers blown up by grenades or had to combat child soldiers. Now people claim ptsd after because their order was wrong at a restaurant or someone yelled at them.
erickghoul174: I’m gonna use this “situational disability” excuse in court one day
SmittenKitten.: Remember on King of Kong where Steve Wiebe's young son needed him to wipe his bottom? Well, Steve didn't pause! He soldiered on through his disability! Hero.
OnlyWaifuYT: Rolling Sparks was bugged. It has already been patched. It was never intended to do so much damage.
painfall: Pause literally doesn't change the difficulty, it's just a delay to your eventual death/success. It doesn't make the ass beating any easier, it just gives you breathing room.
Omnicloudx13: You can quit to title in the game at any time and the game will put you outside the boss room when you resume with no downsides at all. What a load of crap this "drama" is.
Hazzzyyyyyy: People will really blame anything but themselves lmao
PluuuumE: "THATS A SITUATIONAL DISABILITY SAAR" I love content creators with the will to insult their own race, regardless of who you are. That kind of humility is just so refreshing
thecheapguyyes572: I had a situational disability when I was held at gunpoint.
kyo4386: I think it would be more fit for people to understand what she was trying to say if she replaced disability with inability
alexstrozier1534: All those years of telling my mom "I cant pause it its multiplayer" I could have been claiming disability.
Death_By_Snu_Snu: I hate having a situational disability when i game, just to name a few.
- When i need to rub one out.
- When i need to make dinner.
- When i have to do laundry.
- When i have to do the dishwasher.
- When i need to go to work.
- When i need to take a dump.
- When i need to answer the phone.
i was thinking. if you drink and then drive and get pulled over. Is that not a situational disability? I meen, your drunk then but not later?
I remember one time when i had a situational disability as the battery in my controller died and i was in a online match. The bastard that killed me as i was getting new batteries did not take my situational disability in account. Is there someone i can sue?
ros243: The term is being used too loosely. If I need to scratch my head during a boss fight, am I disabled? If I have to take a dump, am I disabled? Show some respect and empathy towards people who are actually disabled and find a more suitable term like situational inconvenience or something. You are definitely not in the same category or under the same level of pain as them.
sarah69420: Calling having a kid a disability is fcking wildddddddd
Scorex7: So... My job is a disability, and not a responsibility?
EE-iv5ej: While I agree with her and Muta's argument a lot, I dislike the labeling of everyday responsibilities a 'disability', because people with the mentioned permanent/temporary disabilities actually deal with those too? Idk it just feels unnecessary (maybe a little insulting to the disabled too) and bad wordings can potentially be exploited by deranged people.
zapper5018: They actually just "nerfed" rolling sparks and the perfume bottle. They said it was a bug that made it hit multiple times or something so it's not broken anymore.
rlcky2580: Officer, I wasn't distracted driving I have a seeing situational disability!
chjk122_: cant do the indian accent without the headbob lol
babblingSponge: Officer, I wasn't driving distracted. I had a temporary visual disability.
Its419games: Being a father and having been a gamer most of my life, kids aren't a disability. They're an inconvenience at worst.
Netro1992: Handicap. That's a handicap. The usage of handicapped to mean disabled has made them retroactively attach that meaning and thus you get this nonsense.
Helena-Van-Troje: If you think about children as a disablility, you probably shouldn't have any. Not being able to play / continue a video game is not the same as having a disability. Thinking like that is a disability called stupid.
TheMisbegottenOphanim: The only Elden Ring drama I'm aware of was the whole clusterf*ck that happened to TheActMan.
YamiDovah: Idk why people whine about pausing in Fromsoft's games.
It's not like it takes and eternity to run back to bosses or where you died. I mean for Elden Ring most bosses have the Stake of Marika right outside their door. People just need to suck it up
Constantinch: I love how the request of adding a pause button in 2024 became "You are oppressing me because of my temporary disability, which is having a two year old child". Can people just be normal?
banshee1vocalist: Then call it a hindrance and not a disability and half the controversy is gone
huasohvac: As someone who has a toddler. Trying to play any video game while she is awake is difficult. Just wait until they are asleep like a normal person.
Pir-o: Even if it's a term used in dev industry, saying that your 2y old kid is a situational disability is pretty rtarded
Noizzed: Go to equipment, press options, select menu explanation, and the game pauses.
