Umezete: The most vexing thing about "git gud," is it just started as a joke because quite frankly, alot of problems new people had with the souls combat is just not being used to the souls combat. So the meme started because any advice was basically "I mean... you suck, you're supposed to suck, you just started playing. Play more, you learn more, you stop sucking. You get good."

I think the reason it got so insufferable in elden ring was the community grew and the old hats who used it ironically were divided into people who dropped it or people who trolled with it and the new smug bastards that picked it up did so cause "they got good" and like being able to put people down.

Either way the meme has evolved into something meaner and it's sad. It used to be a little community in-joke and now it's actually just a plain old insult.

agitated.tachyon: It’s obvious jumping attacks need telegraphing, because they included telegraphing the first time round in Sekiro, and people incorporated jumps into their combat, while many still rely exclusively on rolling in Elden Ring.

With no clear indicator in Elden Ring, your options are either trial and error, meaning you’ll take damage and die multiple times just to be absolutely sure an attack isn’t jumpable, or go watch a video rote teaching you which attacks are jumpable.

The saddest part about the lack of clear telegraphing for jumpable attacks is that the game already has the perfect aesthetic motif to seamlessly communicate this information in an immersive way.

Grace guides us on our journey, Grace encourages Godfrey to fight us, Grace is something that basically only our Tarnished can see at this point.

Grace could have played a far more active role in the game, swimming through the air alongside us, or even quickly flickering into existence to warn us as much as guide us. Grace could have swirled towards an enemy’s critical hit spot when we down them, and it could have manifested as a clear prompt that we should jump the next attack.

Instead, we are told TEXTUALLY that Grace is THE thing that will be there difference between our Tarnished succeeding rather than failing like so many others before, and yet MECHANICALLY, it is basically non-existent save for making my map look ugly as hell by the time I finish the game, long after the fights it was pointing me to have been won.

wboyajian: Its funny because as someone who absolutely loves the base game bosses, Consort Radahn lacks basically everything that makes them fun to me. He has almost no combo variation or mixups, very few positioning based attacks, and such extreme tracking that rolling is basically the only way to avoid damage. All the difficulty just comes from extremely obtuse and punishing attacks. Its like a pure memorization test of the exact way to dodge every move and then execute that for 5 minutes with no flexibility. The skill floor was super high but the skill ceiling was just barely above that so the boss already felt tedious and repetitive on a second playthrough.

It feels like they stop scaling for around 40 vigor, while 60 seems right for endgame. Meanwhile damage just keeps scaling. The result of this is that you know have to heal twice for every fuckup, and effectively your error quota is cut in half compared to midgame. It honestly feels like they just adopted the scaling cap from DS3 where damage is more modest, and never adapted it properly to ER.
