I didnt know this was a thing in Souls games... eldenring darksouls shorts

noro329: She gotta be ragebaiting

_x4858: Melina literally says she'll turn your runes into strength, not dex.

erike.6820: wait, the scaling levels when you level the WEAPON up, not the character, right?? she has to be trolling

Briggin: Worth noting that if something does end up with equal scaling in STR/DEX then STR might be better cos you get a 50% STR boost when 2H

jarltrippin: To be fair, Fromsoft has never been the best at teaching people how to play these games. I always used to put levels in strength into my Bloodborne characters despite being an avid threaded cane user lol. I played through the game like 20 times before I learned I was nerfing myself.

jesusseinpferd__9628: Why did so many people in the comments also not know this? Like do yall not look at your weapons at all?

Kasunシ: The final boss of twitter.

jacobhuppertz5625: Parky cannot have this much time playing these gamea and not know that. Actually best bait ever

TheRealBrotherGrimmy: Ok now I'm confused. Are we talking weapon level up or character level up? Because I know the scaling increases on weapon level up... but if we're also talking character level... then I definitely didn't know about that one...

scottybassman: The letter doesn't actually tell you much btw. Any letter has a wide range of scaling values the weapon could actually have.

GradyTV: Wait WHAT?! I didn't know that either

siddharthsingh8775: Professional vs Competitive Ragebaiters.

prosketch95: Same mechanic in Lies of P aswell

DirtyMcMills: That’s funny. It’s been like that since Demon’s Souls.

GaminwithGamers: This short is really confusing me, did you level up the weapon and thats why the scaling on dex increased or did you level up your character and thats what caused the dex scaling to change?

zavyg9948: Nah that’s a valid miss. I miss such random things in souls games. My first Elden ring play through i knew about spirit summons and i wanted to use them but i didn’t think i had found the item for it yet so i went half my way through the game before a friend told me that i could just use them. Im now playing DS3 and i forgot i could level up my estus for the first like 4 or 5 areas in the game XD

My friend who got me to play DS1 for the first time didn’t realize u can sort your inventory in that one until i showed him lol

Crybaton: That's my speedrunner right here

reiserackham6186: Definitely is in Elden ring when you level up your weapon the scaling glows like it went up and it did there are hidden numbers in between the letter ranks as well.

herlittlespoon: I love a good bucket hat, and that's a great one

JGabrielRonkainen: I guess you speedran past it.

HCG: vvomen lmfao

tkg353: Did everybody really know this? Why tf would the letter go up when u lvl up...

MendaciousCat: Yikes

shadowlife15: Apparently some people don't get this so here we go, scaling for dummies:

As you put points into a stat, weapons that scale WITH that stat, so D, C, B, A, or S will increase the damage you deal with that weapon. So if something scales D with strength, you'll get a marginal amount of damage increase by leveling your strength stat.

The higher the letter, the more damage you get, although these letters are just placeholders for the real number they hide from you. This means that some weapons will have the same letter for two different stats but actually scale differently, so it would be better to choose the higher scaling stat instead. several sites will have the "real" data if you care enough.

Upgrading your weapon with smithing stones will increase their base damage by quite a lot, it will ALSO increase the scaling they provide for the various stats they scale with already. For instance, a weapon might go from D to C scaling by upgrading it from 0 to 10.

How much a weapon's stat scaling goes up by, or if at all, is completely dependent on which weapon you are upgrading, they are all unique. Some weapons stat scaling won't increase at all, and some can go from a D/C all the way to S. Looking up the weapons online before deciding what to upgrade can be a huge smithing stone saver later on, or you can just experiment since all but the last tier of smithing stones are purchaseable.

Hope this helps!

bennyboyshs: Professional speed runner, still learning things. Love this community.
