nickperri6571: To be fair, the game emphasizes the difference between “Dragons” being the drakes and “Ancient Dragons” being the stony, four-winged guys
Kizur13: Good sir, if there's one thing I've learned playing these games, it's there are no good guys or bad guys. With but a very, very few exceptions, every major figure is a monster. Some just more so than others either in deed or appearance.
shadyomo3636: The only reason omens are treated so badly is because of marika, which if i remember correctly, she came after placidusax
theGzusMan: I assumed the dragon commune consuming drake hearts happened AFTER Bayle decided to turn coat lol
DanielGarcia-rx3kt: It's nice the DLC answered why Placidusax's incantation doesn't get boosted by the Dragon Communion Seal. It's because Placidusax is the one that started it. Great video!
Robiertateistearonamientó: What if Bayle’s parents were grayoll and some unnamed ainchent dragon that’s why he looks like a drake but also has the scales of an ainchent dragon and that’s also why he was treated the way he was. He was an abomination.
5TailFox: I'm just surprised that none of the lore deep divers have brought up the whole "Aegon & Balerion" homage with the names Igon and Bayle.
michaeljohnston8891: I do believe that Bayle and the drakes are the dragon equivalent of Omen, but not necessarily in the way you're thinking. I think Florissax is actually telling the truth when she says that Bayle is the progenitor of all drakes, along with Greyoll, of course. And that is because the giant dragon corpse she's standing next to IS Bayle.
Looking at the forensic evidence of this giant corpse, we can clearly see what looks like a colossal spear or arrowhead coming out of the back of its skull, which seems to have been thrown/shot from the south. Although now it's open ocean, if the theories of how the Shadowlands used to fit with the Lands Between are true, then this projectile would've come from Caelid; somewhere we know has a long history of dragon communion, and, most importantly, containing the enormous skeletons of the Titans. Combine this with the fact that this drake corpse has a gaping hole in its chest where its heart should be, and it's clear what happened here. One of these giants or titans killed this beast, and devoured its heart, making this ancient warrior one of the first drake warriors.
We know from Yura that Dragon Communion is ruinous. When we meet his lost love Eleonora, we can see that even her very armor has started to take on draconic features. From the Wyrms, we learn that they are the end result of consuming too many dragon hearts. And, most importantly, they come to command power over magma; just like the version of Bayle that we fight. Furthermore, the description of the two spells we get from Bayle's heart hint that one day, Bayle's power will overtake and transform the body of whoever consumed his heart. And I believe this is exactly what happened to the giant to kill the original Bayle.
There's even more to this theory. I forget which loretuber proposed this, but there's a theory suggesting that upon Bayle's newest transformation, the Giants opted to destroy him utterly, and captured him. They put Bayle into their Forge to incinerate him in a giant pressure cooker, but Bayle released all his power to shatter the forge, leaving it in the dilapidated state we see it in, and producing a cataclysmic volcanic eruption, after which Bayle fled to exact his revenge on Placidusax, who was likely calling all the shots in his attempted termination. The eruption of magma spread all across the Lands Between, submerging much of the Rauh civilization ruins, explaining why we often find them embedded in stone.
andreapda10: the fact that Bayle's head almost matches the dragonkin soldiers' without the horns makes me believe that Bayle was probably a man-made dragon created with the intent of overthrowing Placidusax
alexgeorgescu2122: From my understanding the Dragon Communion ritual was established after Bayle fought Placidusax as revenge for challenging the Elden Lord. However you are right that we have a biased point of view regarding Bayle. My guess is that Plasidusax and the dragons considered the drakes an inferior race. Maybe at the begining the Greater Will/Order antagonised Life/The Crucible? Hence the dragons were made of stone and immortal, while the drakes being dragons touched by the crucible became flesh and grew horns? Later the Greater Will would use Marika to harness the Crucible and thus establish an "aliance", the Golden Order, one of Order and Life?
