someguywithoutamustachestw4406: The fact that elden ring isn’t even Miyazaki’s full vision of a fantasy game has me worried. Like what is bro smoking
Demonbomb51: giving dark souls 1 a chance has really been the best choice i made in gaming
ilijacavic9049: How suprising, making a good game makes you good profit
GriffinTwo: I have a new tattoo that says “mongrel intruder”
albertoorsomariaiorio2823: Most studios: sell their artistic vision and integrity to chase the latest golden goose.
Fromsoft: "Yet... my purpose standeth unchanged."
CharmedImsure-v1q: I remember a great comment I saw on another video positing why ER and BG3 were so great - neither Fromsoft nor Larian are publicly traded, so there's no overbearing investors with no clue about making good games breathing down the studios' necks and demanding the games be released unfinished and without experimentation on what makes a game good
Garl_Vinland: Miyazaki doesn’t buy 50 Bugattis a year. He actually loves his products
ThrowingHydra: incredible that the dlc alone is around the size of DS3
BeetleSkyGames: The people bashing FromSoft don’t represent the people who actually play games. That’s also why studios who do listen those people always seem to fail. Because they’re listening to people who are NOT their customers. They’re just activists who hate video games. It’s a big industry with a large social reach so the activists see this as fertile ground to sell their ideas. I have no problem with activists. I DO have a problem with people hijacking our hobby for their own purposes.
freakersaurus: It already did history by being one of the most important games ever made during a time and moment where games and the industry itself is in the middle of Armageddon
TomServo812: Remember when Daddy said “the dlc was the size of limgrave” lol bro is so fuckin cool
meowzzies: It's shocking in 2024 how studios still get surprised by this stuff. Make a great game and people will flock to it
sk8legendz: The reason its coming out on top in the current medium despite being bashed as inaccessible and too difficult
Is that it's a genuinely good quality game. We paid full price and we got A. Fully functioning product.
A lot of games these days either have poor design or make you pay extra money to do the full story campaign
Any gaming company breaking from these norms are going to find success
jamesshaver2376: It’s never going to be matched
ResPSO: I don't think Elden Ring will alter the course of the industry as a whole sadly. Most larger devs don't seem to understand that just making a fun game is the answer. And you have to wonder if they even know what a good game is anymore. I'm just glad some companies still make good games for the love of the hobby.
oldtime3708: >Make Good game
>Keep doing your own thing
>Win
chessjames1468: The only thing they need to work on is summoning co-oper. I only get to be summoned once, and then nothing.
beerexpert1057: Only thing missing is boss gauntlet. There should be multiple gauntlets with various bosses.
Soluswithyou: Making a game with a clear passion, focus, and direction makes a highly marketable product? Who would have thought!
MikeHuntHurty: Legendary dlc, sure it has its ups and downs but it definitely is an amazing dlc
aarondimoff5180: A reminder that the Rainbow Unicorn real money shop mount in WoW made more money alone than the entire sales of Starcraft II, the most anticipated RTS of the decade at the time. Stupid players, stupid Whales, and short sighted consumers are still making quality games less profitable than cash grabs.
