dachimshvidobadze2286: Rellana showed Messmer her Twin Moons, and she got the sword in return.
Checks out.
mt2r-music: I don’t know if that’s common knowledge but most of Radahns big phase 2 combo was copied and pasted from Sulyvahns movesets. It’s literally the exact same thing except for the fact Radahn jumps a bit higher. It’s kind of insane to me how they didn’t even change anything with that move.
echidnaburger02: During Radahn's phase 2 cutscene, you can briefly hear an oracle envoy's horn after Miquella exits the gate of divinity, proving he had indeed become a god
michamorbiusz: As far as I heard the word Empyrean (神人) is generally used internally for many hornsent NPCs, so it is likely that Empyreans was a name for them early on. So changing Grandam's name seems to be just a cleanup
errantvice7335: For the Godslayer GS and the spiral. The spiral evokes divinity, it’s the same reason Miquella’s Haligtree crest has the helix trunk, it’s to act as a symbol of ascendancy.
The GEQ (who I think was Melina from the get go, but don’t let that distract you from the theory) understood the significance of the spiral to an empyrean, to the process of actualizing the role of Godhood, and so fashioned her weapon after it.
Ranni, who rejected being an empyrean, being a vassal of the greater will via godhood, utilizes no helix or spiral imagery to speak of, quite the opposite in fact, the moon being a perfect circle
agopessimist1335: Given how the Godskins also have Draconic and serpentine features, and are heavily marked by the Crucible, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Gloam Eyed Queen was the previous God before Marika, with both her and her own Demigod children being killed by Marika and Maliketh before Marika became a God at the Gate of Divinity.
Marika could be reaching for the Rune of Life or the Elden Ring itself in the story trailer, and may have achieved Divine Invocation with the Elden Beast when she stood at the Gate of Divinity.
Not to mention how with Placidusax’s god fleeing, it would explain why the Hornsent were so obsessed with creating Saints/Vessels for Divinity, and it would explain why the Godskins have draconic features, and animal features if they were around during that early era.
Not to mention how the only mandatory Godskin fight in the game only occurs in Farum Azula which has explicit ties to Placidusax and the ancient Dragons. And in Farum Azula there is so much iconography of the Twinbird, and we know that Ghostflame was used heavily in the Land of Shadow.
Her being silenced and scrubbed from history falls in line with Marika’s ascension and tactics, and Marika killing her and her children would explain why Maliketh is known as ‘Death of the Demigods’ even though we never see him kill any of Marika’s children.
Sure, there are theories about Melina being the GEQ, but with Messmer’s kindling and how both he and Malenia became vessels for forces like the Abyssal Serpent and the Scarlet Rot, I can see Melina being born as a vessel for the GEQ’s power after she died. Plus, while Rot as a force did exist prior to Marika’s ascension, Romina’s lore states that she potentially created the Scarlet Rot we know of today, which is what Malenia is the vessel for, and she was born way later in the timeline, so Melina being born as a Vessel of Death after the GEQ’s death still makes some sense.
Plus, it’s implied that Destined Death was still a part of the Elden Ring during Marika and Godfrey’s reign, and was only removed during Radagon’s era, as the Golden Order is tied more with him than Godfrey, and plus, the Erdtree only became eternal and immutable when Destined Death was removed, cause otherwise if it was removed way earlier, it wouldn’t make sense as to why the Erdtree would sprout Golden Seeds or Minor Erdtrees, or how it was able to be burned prior to the end of the game.
Plus, with Marika’s spoken echoes talking about using scholarship to understand the Golden Order, it explains why Radagon married Rennala, and why Golden Order Fundamentalism spells also reauire Intelligence.
And Radagon is literally referred to as ‘Leal Hound of the Golden Order’ and Radagon ‘of the Golden Order’. Godfrey has no real connections to the Golden Order that we know of.
INeedNames_: Cant forget that only did the great katanas get that feint, but the perfumer bottles also received one as well
stephanie_jjb: I'm surprised you didn't mention it but the claws of night also have a faint attack
stairmasternem: Personally I think the Godskins are Hornsent adjacent. They have bodies with animal characteristics and they have helical designs with the godslayer sword.
Maybe they hunted the shaman folk. Their clothes made of their skins while the meat was placed in jars.
mokadelic4037: My personal headcanon is that Melina was the Gloam Eyed Queen, sister of Messmer and daughter of Marika, that aided her in the slaughter of the Old Gods like Messmer aided in the purge of the hornsent. Then she had her killed by Messmer because of her vision of fire, maybe beliving her to be a future threat to the Order of Gold she was going to create. She was then burned alive. When Marika shatters the Elden Ring, she awakens, burned and bodyless, and goes in search of the Tarnished to fullfill her destiny, which Marika in time came to accept as well, as it now aligned with her own intrests. I know there is probably a ton of inconsistencies in my theory but it sounded cool in my head.
LAK_770: Best explanation for Grandam is that she was an advisor/mentor to Empyreans. She was an elder who guided candidates through the religious rites leading up to the ritual at the Gate, and Marika was her last or only charge. This neatly explains her seemingly personal hatred and the choice of the word Empyrean. The Hornsent clearly sent Marika to the Gate because they were convinced she would act on their behalf as their connection to divinity (the seduction), but she had fundamentally different plans (the betrayal)
elvisrodz6: Crazy idea what if Marika is the gloam eyed queen and then after she got what she wanted (divinity) she abandoned her followers. It does seem to be her signature move. Melina being her daughter may have inherited her powers and Marika no longer has gloam eyes but gold eyes
ArcadeTheatre: Miquella watches his devoted follower Leda get destroyed by three Tarnished
HeyItsIKB: Furnace Golem hits us with the surprised pikachu face when knocked down lol
vitorvena: Ds2 haters pivoting their opinion on Starscourge Radahn being the best boss because hes now related to that game and God forbid them from liking anything with even the slightest association ahahahah
demonicxfire: About Feints, you forgot to mention that the Beast Claws, Perfume Bottles AND the Smithscript Daggers have them as well
Mario-SunshineGalaxy64: There might be a connection between the Godskins and Enir-Ilim but I think it’s just a case of different groups recognizing the importance of the spiral itself, kind of like how different cultures around the world worshiped the sun despite not communicating with one another.
